October 1, 201015 yr AD2K does sound like a reasonable thing to try at this point, especially for those musical preferences and with a solid amp to drive them. Of course everyone loves the Audeze, though I haven't yet heard them myself. (sigh)

Awesome midrange. Maybe a tad thin sounding. Good width and depth of headstage. Really nice transients and terrific speed (copied verbatim from danc ). October 1, 201015 yr everyone goes for speed and midrange purity eventually. the journey is fun though. I have to agree, that is unless their hearing is sub par. But his goal was to find a headphone to work with his existing amp, so I think for the same reasons you've stated that the LCD-2 should be a last effort before the Stax move. The M^3 should have enough power to drive them nicely but they will also scale well if you decide to upgrade amplification in the future. My preferred answer. Keep what you have and modify the listening experience with whisk(e)y.
October 1, 201015 yr Is it just me or do you guys find that the bass of K340 is slightly lagging behind the other frequencies? Granted it was stock AFAIK. Great sound though all round despite that quirk.
October 1, 201015 yr Yup, stock and especially if the cotton is removed and not replaced with anything the bass is kind of blobby and slow and that's because of the resonance from the back plate. Quick fix makes it better, and a good headphone, depending on the condition of the electrets.
October 1, 201015 yr The problem I had is they are so damn heavy. Even with a fixed headband they don't distribute the weight well. Other wise my "bass heavy" pair of K340 were pretty good for certain music in short periods of listening.

October 2, 201015 yr Author Thanks all I really appreciate the help. About the K340 I have been seraching for them and didn't find any. Well I have been reading some and maybe I could spend a bit more and try the LCD-2 but since I will have to buy it new it can be a bit risky if I don't like it. On the other hand after some talk with cetoole who very gently persuaded me into stax suggested me this lambda that monkey linked. I already emailed him and he says the shipping is 70$, he is asking the 600$+70$. From what monkey said on the thread it was a bit overpriced, what would be decent to ask shipped ?

October 2, 201015 yr yeah man you should give stax a shot. I'm really enjoying my budget srs-2020 system. it's all about that electrostatic speed. I haven't heard the lamba pro, but the normal bias lambda has the best midbass I've heard in a budget can.
October 2, 201015 yr Yeah at half the price I would wait for a SR-Lambda normal bias and a SRD-7. $300-350 should be doable and the bias boxes are universal voltage. I don't think the Lambda Pro is anything special.
October 2, 201015 yr One has to be quick to snap up a SR-Lambda these days so that has to be taken into account. I'm with Deepak though, the Lambda Pro isn't bad by any means but the older SR-Lambda is very special.
