If you can track down the early Kraftwerk, that is my favourite Krautrock.  (Ralf und Florian, 1, 2, side two of Autobahn, and Tone Float by Organisaion).

I do like Can, though.  Never did track down all the SACDs, though.

There was a thread on sh.tv regarding Sabbath's heaviest riff, so I'm listening to a variety of Sabbath.  (My vote goes to the bridge riff in "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" -- the third riff, essentially.)

Oddly, wasn't interested in Tom Waits until I heard Black Rider in the early 90s - its the soundtrack from some German (I think) theatrical production - not his best, but my favourite.

Are We There - Sharon Van Etten

320x320.jpg

Massive hat-tip to the new season of Twin Peaks for turning me on to Sharon and a bunch of other acts I would not have otherwise noticed. Having a different band perform in the bar at the end of each episode is so damn cool.

Old Fire, Songs from the Haunted South on Tidal -- love this, funearally slow, sparse, heavy, momentous, post-rock-y, gorgeous, loads of atmosphere.  Imagine 4AD meets late period Talk Talk meets ...the variety of vocalists puts me in mind of one of Stephen Merritt's projects.  Superb.  Recommended auditioning.
