The haze cleared long enough to get a view of Mt Tam this afternoon.

For future reference, most taxi drivers carry a Slim Jim. As long as you can provide proof of ownership, they'll unlock your car for a nominal fee. Almost always cheaper than a locksmith. Cops will generally do it free, but on their time frame.

I have always been a fan of carrying an extra door key in my wallet.

I thought slim jims don't work on most cars these days?

You could be right.

Adding to the apocalypse documentation. Approaching noon in Mtn View. Was brighter after sunset. Keeping on eye out for boils tomorrow.

Death Valley is the safe spot now?

They should have used “The Red Weed” from Jeff Wayne’s musical adaptation of War of the Worlds.

I was thinking of Red Skies at Night by The Fix.

My theory is that Trump has ordered his spray tan dumped in the upper atmosphere. Hoping that it turns California residents Orange, in a false show of unity.

It still has those freaky moving rocks.

I think they move slow enough to easily get out of the way.

True, though we're all getting older.

Any of you West Coasters got recommendations for air filters?  I know Grm got that car one.  Anything for indoors or are the built-in ones adequate?  What about masks?

Asking for multiple friends and one sister.

The Winix 5500 seems to be the best bang for your buck. But this is Head-Case, so I'll shut up.

Vava brand air purifier, the one with UV light for bacteria.  They are cheap silent so get multiples to spread around your crib. For masks look for three layer cotton preferably with pockets to allow for insertion of non woven poly propylene fabric (Etsy, Admathagifts).

As for locust hords and boils I recommend Ortho Home Defense Max and a topical steroid cream.

For reference, this was my view on August 19

Needless to say, no bike ride this morning.

Wouldn't it be like biking on Krypton, then when the clean air came back...
