Sorta cheating since the local datacenter we have servers in has a direct peering connection with Comcast - hence the 0ms ping time. Nonetheless kinda fun to see numbers like that on a speedtest.

Found out our internet company (Bell) has been cheating my dad $40 a month with their sub-par service. At $70 dollars a month he should be getting a lot better than 2.6Mbps.

I knew we were getting ~2.6Mbps for a long time. Just had assumed that dad would be paying much less than 70 dollars a month.

You should be happy. We pay $65 + tax for a 3 mbit line. I say a silent prayer every time I can get a 2 mbit burst.

$65+tax for 3mbit line... That seems really expensive for very little... Do you at least get a large cap?

uncapped connection means very little if you get 1.5 mbit down. its a legacy connection grandfathered in from apt to apt from 2000. back before all this capping nonsense started.

I'm actually paying for Comcast's "Up To" 12 Mb service so it's good to see I'm getting close to that.

Now that I think about it, dad's internet is probably a legacy plan from the 2000s too. Comparing the price of that plan to what's offered now though, it's not a good deal at all. Are you sure that's the fastest speed you can get? Maybe there are cheaper and faster plans available now?

every few weeks when the speeds drop below 1 mbit, i bitch and moan and in the 4 days it takes at&t to get it up to 2.6 mbit for 20 minutes and offer a $5 credit, i look for other options but none are available. ironically if we move like 3 miles in any direction, we can get a 15 mbit cable line for ~45/month. its capped but still.

Yesterday a couple guys came to my door trying to peddle ATT U_Verse fiber for the internet along with TV and phone. They said I could get 12 mbps, Hell, I get twice that speed now from Comcrap/Xfilthy. I average 22 to 24 mbps down.

Comcast abandons 250GB data caps, will trial tiered plans starting at 300GB

So will my unused (like that happens) capacity roll over? wait, this is comcast we're talking about ...

I have been over 500G a month for about the last year.. they never called me.. but I don't want to pay for it... I like being be the rebel not the chump...

We often hit 250GB, but I don't recall ever going past 265GB in a month.

I have not been too bad last couple months... I don't know what happened in Feb.. must have been sick.

New place. Meh. I miss FIOS, but it's certainly sufficient.

FIOS continues to be pretty solid for me for the Internetz.

FIOS TV is a different story.

I'm looking forward to the speed boosts they're implementing for FIOS, it's got me tempted to upgrade to the next tier.
