Happy Birthday Jeff!!! Hope you can find something nice to buy yourself for your BD (new Nikon lens???)!

I hope you have time to monkey around today, and it's great that you got to hang out with some HC buds last night. Cheers!

My father, Lt Col. Kenneth Mueller (I'm actually the II), passed away today at 3:15 PDT. He almost made his 90th birthday, which is May 29. He had a great life, cheated death many times and died quietly at home, as was his wish. He was a veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam. I would just like to ask HCers to send some good thoughts his way and for the drinkers to drink something in his honor. Thanks. See you at CanJam.

Hey now! Short story is I'm tired of messing with phone cameras. There's always something I'm unhappy with: apps are slow to load, difficult to hold the phone and take a good picture, changing settings using a touchscreen, takes too long for pictures to focus, etc. What I'm looking for is a nice point n' shoot for vacations, family pictures, and totin' around music festivals. Most music festivals won't let you into the concert grounds with a camera with a detachable lens, as they reserve this privilege for people with press passes. Some have revised their rules to be "no detachable lenses over 2 inches" or something similar, but I'd rather it not be an issue as al…

I see in the forum rules that there are no "profane" posts allowed, but then I saw elsewhere where one or more members said "Fuck this, or fuck that - I'll do as I goddamn well please", words to that effect. So would that be a violation of the rules? If this was a legitimate site then it probably would be a violation, yes? The only reason I ask is because a friend of mine, Bob Fletcher, had his company taken over by the CIA so it was no longer legitimate and there was a lot of profanity.

  11. I thought the "explanation" to calm the masses was to support Can Jam, which is over, but the annoying left-sided banners/ads still make me move my cursor to right with every page change. http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f11/can-jam-over-can-ads-move-r-again-323913/

Considering our hobby, I have to presume I'm not the only one that's sucked in by simple genius. This is a dumping ground for unique inventions that are underappreciated for what they are; they've become commonplace, obsolete or quite simply, frivolous! A few of my faves: The ZIPPO Lighter Simple in its mechanics, tank-like in construction, plus it makes fire. Fire good. I've been a Zippo fanatic since I was a kid. Incidentally, a more controlled flame (like a Bic) is probably the better choice for lighting firecrackers. The Rolling Machine Ok, seriously, this one is so damned simple I almost can't believe it ended up getting invented. …

Happy birthday Biggie! I figured since you are a baker who shares a birthday with Mike Baker then you should have a birthday thread early along with him. Have a great one and I hope somebody else bakes for you today! Cheers!

  18. H-C was down during his actual birthday, part of some Rotenberg/Ultrasone conspiracy I am sure. I had an elaborate and terrible joke constructed around not knowing who Tyll was and asking a variety of increasingly inane questions, culminating in me moving my HRBD out of the way to get a better look at his resume. Of course, seeing as how I'm starting this thread that's not exactly gonna work. I'll say this instead: It was directly because of the reviews I read of the HD-650 on the Headroom website in early 2004 that I decided to build a headphone rig. Thus began an extended and expensive journey that eventually lead me to this place. Thank you and damn you, Tyll Hert…

I come in to work everyday at 7:30 ish... People show up at 8:30. Everyone around me is really into this fantasy football bullshit and as soon as they start showing up, like directly on top of me, they all sit there talking for like between 30-60 mins about this shit, really loud. It aint a huge deal now and then, but it seems through out the day a few of these guys in sales or whathever just keep coming back here to talk to this guy next to me for between 15-30 mins about this garbage. Anythign from a blog posting about baseball trades, to anything... I'm pretty into sports also, but I do my best not to sit on top of people talking for an hour while I see they are kinda …

Hello All! I finally got fed up with the thought police over at Head-Fi, so I posted a farewell message saying goodbye and a little on why I was leaving. Nothing defamatory, just saying that I could not tolerate the moderators arbitrary enforcement of the rules and their deleting things just because they could. I then logged off. I went back to read any responses to my farewell (as a guest), and the f----ers deleted my farewell message. Oh?well. So here I am. I?ll see how things go here. Only time will tell whether the members here can tolerate me or not. Does this mean that I can?t go to the National? \
