To expand on Steve's idea, how about we all post the first HF rigs we had as a small trip down memory lane. Guess I'll get the ball rolling... My first HF rig (and prior to me knowing about all these crazy people and their headphones) was just a HD600 plugged into an old Kenwood integrated amp (headphone socket fed via resistors from the main amp) but since it isn't electrostatic it doesn't really count in my case. My first real headphone setup was the SRM-313/SR-007Mk1 combo, complete with a round SRE-15N extension cable and a stand/cover. After this all hope was lost... Source was shared with my speaker rig and the interconnects used cost more then the …

  11. Started by boomana,

I seem to have lost my camera. It was quite old and not very good anyway. I'm in the market to get a new one. Wants: Ease of use. I'm not much of a photographer, but would like to be able to quickly, easily take a pic without much fuss and bother. Small size and fairly durable. Can drop in my purse without fear (my purse is actually very neat with no random debris lying about the bottom). Not expensive. Since I have no plans to use it often, I see no need to spend big bucks on this. I'm looking at $100-300. I've been looking around at cameras, and there are hundred that seem to fit my want list. I'm trying to narrow down the choices, so if anyone…

Happy birthday Frank! I hope you had some time to enjoy some tunes and have a couple of beers on your big day. Or possibly design and build a world class amp. Cheers!

  15. Not sure if I've ever started a thread in here, but I just had to for this: Headphones With Swagger (and Lots of Bass) I spoke with Andrew Martin of the Times for about a half hour. He was quite interested in what I had to say, and was well aware of questions like, "If Dre adjusted the EQ in the studio, why would he adjust it again in the headphones?" I'll save you the digging, here's what he decided to quote from me" “In terms of sound performance, they are among the worst you can buy,” says Tyll Hertsens, editor in chief of InnerFidelity.com, a site for audiophiles. “They are absolutely, extraordinarily bad.” I was talking about the Solo. Lawyer…

Post #200! I haven't had much time to check in here lately, so I didn't spot my birthday thread until today. It birthday went well, almost as well as my wedding, May 10th!!! A brief summary: The weather was perfect, not a single cloud in the sky and hardly any wind. The minister (who happens to be my father-in-law) held a touching ceremony. Our hired photographers did an outstanding job (it seemed, haven't seen the processed pictures yet). The reception went well. The chef made a delicious meal, the wedding cake was gorgeous and I managed to pull off a decent wedding speech for the bride despite being pretty nervous (btw, sleep is overrated the night before the …
