These will be used almost exclusively for gaming. I am much more concerned with comfort than I am with quality. If I had to rank them myself from the research I've done.... Comfort: 1) MA900 2) Ultrasone 3) DT990 4) Fidelio X1 Quality: 1) Fidelio X1 2) DT990 3) Ultrasone 4) MA900 Price: $230 Fiedlio X1 $215 MA900 $150 DT990 $90 Ultrasone I need a very light clamp. Don't really care much about bass, more about mids. As I read that's what is important for gaming. My budget is about $150 otherwise I would have probably bought the MA900's already. Any suggestions are appreciated!

So I've been thinking of getting RS-1 (again) and I'd love to grab a vintage pair, but I also know the chance of that happening is close to nil. With that in mind, has anyone heard the new button-less RS-1? I'm just curious if there are any differences in the sound with the re-design.

I go through a pair of cheap Sony earbuds (DR-EX12IP) every 1-3 months. I didn't want to get something nicer for fear of them breaking after a month as well, but I'd like to give it a shot. I'm looking at Shure SE-215s. My main priority is durability. I am probably not likely to put them in a case when not using them. I know it's bad. But I use headphones at least 5 hours throughout the day (sometimes more), so it's easier for me to just keep them coiled in my pocket. The next priority is comfort. My ears are pretty small, so that could be an issue. And I don't know that Shure IEMs are really meant for the general public. Is there a more comfortable option out there? …

I was hoping somebody could help me out here. Currently I use Phillips SHE9503/10 in-ear earphones. They get the job done, and I felt as though I got a bargain with them. Im definitely happy with those. However my listening experience has lessened of late. I find I take too long putting the buds in my ears, and a lot of times when turn my head the wires would catch on my jacket button, making me start the process of fitting the buds back in my ears. And sometimes I feel them sliding out so I have to constantly adjust. All the while my song is being played and im not listening to it properly. Anyway, because of all this I was thinking about replacing them with headphones. …

After picking up the superb thinksound On1 monitor on ear headphones recently, I emailed thinksound to mention my general appreciation of the sound quality of these mighty cans. They say it's a replacement plan that covers accidental damage so if I were to drop them and they don't work or break I'm covered which is what I want..But I normally take good care of my stuff and really don't see myself ever dropping them. What do you guys think? I think it will cost anywhere from $14.99 to $29.99

Hey all I listen to all types of rock. Mainly listen to stuff like Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, Mars Volta, Porcpine Tree and 90s alt rock. All in FLAC of course. From my research it appears the Shure SE425 would be a good choice I'm in the £50-150 pound bracket. Willing to go more if its REALLY worth it. Looks like I can score some great deals on ebay. The SE 535 are just ridiculously more expensive here in the UK. Not sure if there is anything else I should consider? Or any anyone tell me what I really need in terms of like mid ranges, treble etc? I wish to replace/upgrade my broken, 20yr old Sony MDR-V404 phones. I have always been impressed with their sound. They are the only ones I have used for 20 years. I bought a MDR-ZX-100 for time being and they not close no cigar to the old ones. I am not a professional. I use my phones for making cd'swith my laptop: music/movie/you-tube. There's a pair of really nice looking SR-404LE's for sale at another site. $700.00 ... I got the itch to pull the trigger just because; fatter cable, swanker looks, leather pads ... and supposedly pretty great on the Lambda scale (I've read the main threads here at Hcase re: such)... But already having the 307's (my secondary cans) and some Koss ESP950's (my main, most loved cans) ... just not sure if I'd regret a $700 purchase for a minimal improvement over either of my current cans (especially the ESP950's which I consider quite dramatically better than my 307's... Really pretty, though, that's for sure. Also not sure if $700 used is fair or not ...

I've been pondering this question... If electrostatic cans are mostly just a thin filament of material .. then how do various cans have different sound signatures? Is there a crossover circuit in the headphone? Why do my Koss 950's sound so much different than my Stax 307's? What is the variable that affects sound? Curious...

Hi, I'm looking for advice on headphones. I use them to listen to mp3's and tube on the laptop and the TV at night and gaming. I have a habit of getting the cables caught up, loosening the wires or bending the jack, meaning I have to replace them from time to time. Because of this I tend to get fairly basic relatively inexpensive sets. I usually buy Panasonic RP-HTF350E-N Monitor Headphones (originally made by Technics) which were really great sound quality for the money but it appears this product is now discontinued and impossible to procure. I've owned a lot of different headphones throughout the years, including V-Moda Crossfade LP, Beats Detox, Jays a-Jays Four, Beats Tour, Noontec Zoro HD, Klipsch S4i and so on. I always went by the thought that more expensive is better. And then I bought the MEElectroincs M9P. They have an inline mic, which is nice. So I went with a friend see some speakers at the Hi.fi store and while doing our listening session the owner was always talking about this simulator device that he got but we continued to say "yeah yeah lets hear the speakers". At the end he convinced us to have a go and I could see how all smiley he was.
