Just up on InnerFidelity - Katz's Corner has a review of the KGSS Carbon and Dynalo Mk II built by Mjolnir Audio - well done, kevin and spritzer! He used an SR-007 Mk II with port mod and LCD-4 for the reviews.

OMG this has got to be amazing right... it has a tube and it's a Cavalli and it's a Massdrop. What more could anyone ask for https://head-fi.org/threads/massdrop-x-alex-cavalli-tube-hybrid-amp-cth-dropping-monday.857673/#post-13654584 edited: ah man i was so excited till i saw this... ''Please be aware that this is not made by Cavalli. It's made by Massdrop by a China manufacturer with the Cavalli name being licensed, etc.''

Now that this amp has been released and we finally have an internal pic, it is time for a dedicated thread. Here is some info about the launch event: http://hifilounge.tumblr.com/post/162193518708/trilogy-h1-energiser-for-stax-earspeakers-launch So 5000UKP... and nothing else which is relevant at all. The usual HF retards claiming this was the second coming and all that BS but here are the internals...enjoy: Not the best quality but good enough to know what is going on. In before Jim and yup...this looks a lot like an SRX. Some Russian dual triodes for the input and those look a lot like 6N6pi's to me. Two plate resistors as well. So over a…

So my birthday present is finally here, the SRM-T8000. I just quickly plucked it into my computer rig with the Denafrips Ares as a source: Here I can compare directly against the Carbon CC and the as yet unrealesed new KGSSHV, budget edition. Think of this one as the 727 if Stax had any sense. Anyway, back to the T8000. The packaging is classic Stax and no complaints there. I do have some complaints about the casework though, the front panel looks awesome but who decided what to do with the rest of it? Seriously that sparckly silver paint is just horrible. Reminds me of some super cheap Chinese amps. Yeah... not great. I had a quick peek inside to…

  6. Hello to all forum users! My name is Martin and this is my first ever post, so please bear with me if I would make any kind of mistake. I would really appreciate if I could get some help please. I need to convert 100v Japanese amp to be working with UK power supply. I believe it could be re-wired; i am just not sure what wires and what pins on PCB needs to be changed. Also, I am looking to install XLR balanced inputs, is there any simple schematic how to do it? My DAC has an pre amp so the volume control on the 323A is not necessary. thank you for your time and help best regards Martin

Hi, Check this 12000 euro amp out. There are so many $10k amps popping out these years. They come from workshops. Actually, I doubt if they are really worth the price. In our ongoing quest to buy random shit to try out, Kevin bought a Jotunheim as he was interested in the circuitry. He thought they might have done something novel... but it is utterly mediocre as one has come to expect these days. One interesting bit is the horrible assembly quality (hello hand soldering at minimum wage) and dubious parts such as no name switches... which arrived broken. Now this is a budget piece so corners have to be cut but not cleaning off the flux is just sloppy. sj.pdf For me the biggest letdown with all of this is the major disservice Schiit and others are doing to the community. They are toting these frankly "shit" amps…

So I have this nice new LG OLED TV but my receiver can't pass 4K video through it since it is too old. So I need something that will be HDCP 2.2 compatible I believe. I have a Marantz SR6005. I've been really happy with the Marantz receivers so far and would like to stay with them unless there is something significantly better that won't break the bank. Trying to decide between SR5011, SR6011, and SR7011. Any thoughts? This will be for a 3 (maybe 3.1 at some point) setup. Setup: PS4 Pro/Apple TV/Oppo BDP-105D -> receiver (would use DAC in receiver for everything buy music and would use the Oppo for that) -> TV and Monitor Audio silver ser…

I was skimming some hi-fi magazine this weekend and I noticed the announcement of this product. Teddy Pardo is mostly known for his aftermarket power supplies for Naim products. Does anybody have experience with this amp or his other boxes? There's very little useful info on the product page (e.g., gain or power), and no reviews yet.

  12. Hey guys, @justin and I are excited to make our first offer on the burgeoning deal site Massdrop: it's the Original HeadAmp Pico DAC/Amp! https://www.massdrop.com/buy/headamp-pico-portable-dac-amp Get in soon, to save up to 50% off the retail price of $499. This is a limited-time, limited quantity deal, and once the Picos at this price are gone, they're gone. The Pico DAC/Amp uses an ASRC to upsample signals of 16/44 and 16/48 to 24/96 before converting them with a well-regarded Wolfson DAC chip. The Pico DAC works without drivers on Windows and Macs, and works on some Apple iOS products when paired with a camera connection kit, and select Android d…

Recently i acquired a SRM1/MK2 (B series) Stax amp and a pair of sr404 which is bought for a sigma/404 conversion It comes with an imbalance issue. I first thought it is the headphone , but after several switches of equipment(amps, headphones etc) im certain that its the AMP. By observation there is no burnt resistors, measured some of them ,the VR seems to be functional........I tuned the offset and balance But the + to - voltage of the lower-volume channel doesn't change when i rotate the balance pot which is abnormal, it stays on 8v dc While all other balance and offset pots is fine. Have anyone once had the same issue ?Any thoughts?I need help…

  18. Started by Guss2,

I noticed on Headamps website that the new version of the Aristaeus includes numerous improvements in parts and build quality. Has anyone here heard a V1 and V2, as to make any comparison. What parts have been changed and such? Justin or maybe the denizen electrostatic gurus. Thanks, Gary.

  19. Started by spritzer,

I figured I'd start a topic on this where people can actually find info about the amp. I'll quote Kevin's post from the DIY thread in below. As with so many other of these projects, curiosity got the better of me so I actually bought one of these amps. It had gone back to Cavalli to be fixed so no claims possible that it was an early unit and the new ones aren't like this at all. That is the usual Cavalli defense plus that we are doctoring the pics to show his crap in an unflattering light. Well for some pics I'll link in Kevin's post now: So let's discuss what is wrong with this thing. First of all, it's not actually balanced, more a quad of single end…

For some reason which I can't explain, I wandered over to the Cavilli website today and saw that the Liquid Lightning 2T was selling for $2499.50. Original price was $4250. Wonder what's going on?

Hi Guys I run a KGSShv that take about an hour to warm up and sound 100% performance. Because of that I tend to leave it on all the time unless I am going away for a few days. My question, is it ok to do that and leave the headphones plugged in, or is it best to power down? The headphones would i guess get a 580v bias but no music signal during this time.

  25. Has anyone built a high quality transformer / convertor to run Stax headphones out of the speaker terminals of a power amplifier? I know there has been some negatives about the Woo Wee. I am thinking is there a much higher quality option that can compete with the KG Stat amplifiers and that is safe i.e. won't damage the headphones or the power amplifier feeding the converter. Many years ago I used an SRD-7 which was ok, nothing great. Any information would be much appreciated.
