I've gotten hooked on Al Kooper's monthly article from the Morton Report. Kooper (Bob Dylan, Super Session, Blood Sweat and Tears etc) has always been a highly opinionated artist/producer and no matter how you feel about his personality, just playing on Electric Lady Land buys him a good bit of respect in my book. I have decided that David Bowie is the next artist that I'm going to dive into after my past two dive-ins which were the far less famous Beggars Opera and Renaissance. Both of which were a while ago. Articulate for me, if you would be so willing, those of you who like a bit of Bowie, which of his CDs I shoudl begin my dive with. For an artist of his level of fame and influance I am basically, utterly blank listening slate, all I really know is Space Oddity and Starman. Thank you in advance.

Just received my, bought used, and wonder which year of release are yours please. My is from year 1988 made in Germany with old fashion big double CD case. Looks like the first run, but I am not sure, cos most of what I see on Ebay now are year 2000. I was simply wondering if there any quality differences between 1988 and say 2000. To know this you have to hear them side by side, so, maybe someone had the chance to do so, please share then...Not that my are bad, but its just 20 years old, quite exceptional, for me anyway. THX

Plays the Music of Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn Stereophile went gaga over this album. They gave it 4 1/2 stars for performance and five for sound. I checked it out on Lala and it does sound worth a serious listen. Can't speak to the five stars for sound part, since I only listened to a stream on my laptop speakers. Have been shit testing this all day and must say I'm very pleasantly surprised. Throwing all sorts of obscure stuff at the wall to see what sticks, and generally the depth of what comes back is impressive. Happily listening to "Durutti Column Radio" for the last hour or so now without a single skip. Win. (Must be leveraging off the effort already put into Genius over the last few years?)
