  1. I'm surprised we don't have this in the first TV subforum page. I finished yesterday the first and only season (so far) of "Mare of Easttown" on HBO. I really liked it, very well acted, Kate Winslet did a fantastic job.

    Yay, Season 13 has started!

  3. Started by dsavitsk,

We have cable. The only real reason we have cable is that I like to watch tennis. ESPN now has most of it, and the rest is on Tennis Channel. In order to get TC, one has to have essentially all the channels, so we do. It costs too much. A back of the envelope calculation suggests that cutting cable will pay for several days of good seats at the US Open this summer, or possibly a (slim) majority of a trip to Wimbledon, either of which sounds way better than TV. And between the Roku and an antenna, cable seems otherwise a waste, although I do like Brad Gilbert. I guess we'll have to go to the neighbors to watch Game of Thrones. That seems OK -- we like the neighbors. …

If there have been mentions of Dave (FXX/Hulu) here I couldn't find it on search, so let's start a thread. If you're like me and late to the party, season 2 recently started and crazy funny/smart. If you're mixed at the pilot jump to episode 3 ("Hypospadias") for a kinda amazing episode of sexual fears/intimacy.

Is search broken or after a season and a half has there really been no mention of Succession? Anyone else digging it?

  6. Started by TMoney,

Great first episode! I'm excited to see where they go with it.

Looks like COVID-19 is going to shut things down for a while. Has anybody watched the Vikings series from the History Channel? Looks like my kind of show.

This is a new series premiering Sunday on AMC. It's staring Anne Frances Murphy, who played Alexis on Schitt's Creek. Looks to be a Black comedy. Certainly looks to be worth a try.

A norwegian show dubbed to english on netflix. I just watched episode 1 and it’s good.

An international crime drama, based on a true story, most of which takes place in the 70's. 8 episodes on Netflix and definitely worth the watch IMO.

Just watched the first two episodes of this new series on EPIX. It's based on the book 6 Days of the Condor. An interesting cast to be sure. Some new people and a lot of actors that haven't really been seen in a while. I found it worthy of a few more episodes at least.

Hadn't heard of this show, until Al texted me about it last night. I got sucked in by episode one, with great music and fun characters, so I started watching more tonight. It takes place in London in 1983-88. I just finished, it's only 5 episodes. I feel like I just did a tour on the front lines of a horrible battle. It's not for the faint of heart, but it's the most realistic portrayal of the AIDS epidemic I've seen. It brought up so many memories that I haven't confronted in so long, and friends cut down way too early. A rough ride, but maybe that's what it has to be, to tell the real story.

In case anyone else's mind recently went from Gilligan's Island's sexuality to The Addams Family, you may enjoy the below historical ping-pong of the two monster families. I thought one was a copycat of the other, but it's more complicated. https://decider.com/2019/10/14/addams-family-vs-the-munsters-which-came-first/

OK, so I just finished season 3 of The Wire. This show has continued to impress me. Season 1 was probably the most immediately gripping, but season 2 was also fucking SUPERB, if a bit more complex plot wise and emotionally, and season 3 really provided a lot of closure from loose ends left over in season 3, and for me was the most emotional (yes, I got teary-eyed during the last ten or so minutes, it was really intense. You know like when the bigness of a story just gets to you, and you can't help but have a thousand emotions well up inside? thats what happened). Actually season 3 provides so much closure, I can't wait to see where season 4 takes the story (on dvd this de…

This second season of the limited series is about the Atlanta Olympic bombing and Richard Jewell. And while it pretty much mirrors the movie as far as Jewell is concerned, it's a much more in depth assessment of the events. It's prime focus is on the real bomber, who eluded justice for several years. It also casts one of my favorite actors from Boardwalk Empire, along with a quite good role from Judith Light ( and she didn't even cry in this one ). Recommended ( what else do you have to do anyway )?

Anybody watching this show? Ethan Hawk plays John Brown. I'm really enjoying this. The young man who plays "Onion" is someone to watch. He may have a great career ahead of him.

Let’s get this thread started. Anyone else excited for tonights HBO debut? Seems Lindelof both treats Moore & Gibbons graphic novel as canon/past and moves it forward enough to do his own thing.
