Anyone else digging on this? I am NOT a fan of all the other Stagate incarnations but I am really liking this one. Robert Carlyle is pretty good in it.

Anyone else a fan of this show? I missed it the first time around since I don't watch TV but I'm catching up now. Les Stroud is truly amazing, musician, survival expert, writer, filmmaker, and a remarkable TV personality to boot with endless charisma. He films everything himself, no camera crew, nothing is faked like Man vs. Wild, just genuine survival techniques with a bit of humor thrown in. Les doesn't do anything excessive, and his escapades don't always work and sometimes he has to bail and call in help. Still, I've learned a few nice tricks, and the show is massively entertaining.

Don't know too much about it, except some of the same people that brought us Peaky Blinders. Looking forward to watching the premier.

In case anyone else's mind recently went from Gilligan's Island's sexuality to The Addams Family, you may enjoy the below historical ping-pong of the two monster families. I thought one was a copycat of the other, but it's more complicated. https://decider.com/2019/10/14/addams-family-vs-the-munsters-which-came-first/

I'm obviously late to the show, but the first episodes have been fantastic so far. I'm disappointed that they only released the first season in Blu-ray... if I like it enough, I'll have to settle for DVDs of seasons two to five. The retro '80s soundtrack is great and they've done a good job with historical detail so far. The plot has some gigantic plausibility holes, but it holds together from a dramatic standpoint (i.e., a "realistic" espionage show would be incredibly slow, boring, and basically unwatchable).

Just started watching season 1 of The Americans on amazon prime video and I have to say I'm impressed. Great acting and a really unique premise for a TV show.

I'd started watching this last year (1st season), but only did about 4-5 episodes. [rant] I was going to rewatch it and finish the 1st season before starting the second, but those pricks at Comcast are charging $3 an episode for previous seasons now. I'm so glad the powers that be allowed Comcast to buy NBC/Universal. Service providers like them should never be allowed to own content creators, and apparently their "concessions" to not charge for such expired early this year, but I digress. [/rant] At any rate, I've been watching the 2nd season. Intense show, and so far I'm impressed. I think I read one reviewer stating that it was the new Breaking Bad. Not too f…

Anyone watch the pilot? On the plus side someone is finally using Jennifer Beals and the rest of the cast are interesting choices (and faces). On the negative it's from the creator of The Shield (characters are consistently constipated here too) and every fifth word of the script was 'Chicago' ('That's the Cha-cog-oh way!', 'And that's how we do things in Cha-cog-oh!', etc.). Strange mix between Scorsese-lite action and horrible TV dialogue.

  15. Started by swt61,

I just found out about this show, and caught up on Hulu recently. The story line is that it's 10 years later, and Mitch and Abby McDeere are recently out of the witness protection plan. Many of the characters are there, but played by different actors. All in all it's not bad. Josh Lucas (Mitch) has a Paul Newman thing that I like, and Julliette Lewis is not a bad choice to play the Holly Hunter character, Tammy. John Grisham has a hand in this, and interestingly enough, Helen Shaver is an Executive Producer and sometime Director here.

  16. Started by swt61,

Just discovered The Fosters on Netflix. It's an NBC series I think. Some overdone drama, and a little predictable here and there, but underneath is a pretty poignant, more realistic modern family. Not that I have any complaints about the very funny Modern Family series. This series is about two lesbian partners who were raising the Son of a previous marriage to one, then added two adopted twins that needed a home. The series starts with the current temporary fostering of a "high risk" teen. The series deals with several issues, with a heavy underlying theme of modern gay life. It's touching and smart in parts, but it's almost like the writers are being bullied into th…

Bradley Whitford & Colin Hanks play unlikely detectives for the Dallas PD: FOX Broadcasting Company - The Good Guys This could have been annoying, but somehow is played by both main characters in such a way that it is nothing but totally entertaining. It's definitely lite fare, but not insulting one's intelligence, and good pacing. My surprise favorite summer show (I almost grew a mustache!). My wife & I both laugh throughout. The summer finale aired on Monday, and will pick up on Fridays this fall. I think you can watch full eps online @FOX.

Anybody watching this show? Ethan Hawk plays John Brown. I'm really enjoying this. The young man who plays "Onion" is someone to watch. He may have a great career ahead of him.

  22. New show with David Cross and Will Arnett. Airing on IFC but the pilot's up on Hulu now. http://www.hulu.com/watch/177769/the-increasingly-poor-decisions-of-todd-margaret-in-which-claims-are-made-and-a-journey-ensues

  23. This is a brilliant comedy and one of the best I can recall seeing. Unfortunately I don't think many people in the US have heard about it. The show stars David Cross, Will Arnett, Spike Jonez (and a couple of surprise celebrity appearances I won't ruin). It is based around David Cross who is a pathological liar and is sent to England for a temporary job assignment that goes horribly wrong. There are only two seasons, with a total of 12 episodes and the series is now concluded. http://en.wikipedia....f_Todd_Margaret Trailer (though I think it gives away a bit too much) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6NgB7Vy_9c

I've watched the first three episodes now, and overall I think it's going to be a good show. I like that there's not a new case resolved each episode. The character developement is it's strong point.
