  1. Those look awesome! I really dig the yellow one for some reason. The bridge in particular looks very well made, with no pointy sections. Never played fanned frets. I think i'm unqualified. In a cruel twist, I took delivery today of my mesa amp, but no connecting cable was sent. *cries* But sweetwater is giving me a free mogami gold one since I did so much business recently. Pretty awesome. I really dig the different colors. Originally chose this combo since the blue 1x12 cabinet was out of stock.

  2. Sorry Jeff. Two high-quality people don't have to be the right two for each other. Keep the shoe game strong and move along!

  4. This is not aerospace. It is not even a cell phone. It is a crappy little headphone amplifier which is just some standard off the shelf parts soldered to a simple PCB. It is going to be the same whether made in China, Russia, or the U.S. Whether it sounds good depends upon the design and implementation of the circuit, not the quality of the PCB or the manufacturing.

  5. Decided to take a break from unpacking and setting shit up so we drove over to the local beach 10 minutes away. We bought a yearly beach pass that includes all beaches from Ormand Beach to New Smyrna and also Lighthouse Point Park. Then spent a few hours boogie boarding. Very nice day.

  6. http://www.us.tdk-lambda.com/ftp/Specs/km.pdf medical grade, switches at 132 kHz. definitely can fit everything inside the box. This would be the most expensive part at $80 even cheaper if you go for the 15 watt version. definitely everything fits in the box, and no phase splitter or other crap because its a true differential balanced amplifier. the quad alpha pot would be the 2nd most expensive part at $30 so say $200 in parts plus about $25 for the box. and it won't blow up even into a 4 ohm load. or a dead short.

  8. Just registered for a Test and Tune autocross event. Not a competition but a chance to run the autocross course 30+ times and make adjustments (pretty much tire pressure in my case) and I paid extra to have an instructor ride along throughout the day. Also I will have gotten my new rear sway installed a few days before. Should be lots of fun, though it's not really racing. There is also a track day scheduled in August at the new Dominion Raceway road course but they have been getting cancelled due to SCCA not approving the track yet so I've not registered. Would require a taking a day off which is less of an issue.

  11. Which doesn't really mean anything on its own. So are most of the PCBs for parts inside your cutting edge computer or cell phone. Just because something is made in China doesn't mean it's low quality, it's more about what you're willing to pay. In many (most) instances now, China actually has the resources to provide superior manufacturing, you just can't expect rock bottom prices. The 80s are over.

  12. Nice, Chris. Do you have a good, accurate pressure gauge? You should get one. Also, IR thermometer to get temps. Also, bring someone to record all of this in a huge spreadsheet with ambient temps, surface temps, tire temps, etc. Bring a water sprayer to spray the tires down. Also, make sure the guy with the computer is wearing a lab coat. **BRENT**

  16. Yamaha YSP 2500 only negative that came to light is that I had to run a wired connection to the sub as it would cut out sometimes but I think that's because our furnace is on the other side of the wall emitting EMI

  22. Saw this in a bar... Soo, is the irony intentional, or....? (Best I can tell, is a quote from a TV show I don't watch. But not much comes up when you Google it. So it's not an official meme, if there is such a thing. ) Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

  26. Can I pm you my Paypal address? OK, so today was a busy day at work necessitating a early start with the Borgogne taste testing. The telephone rings and I have a "Microsoft security engineer" with a very suspicious accent on the line telling me that Microsoft has detected a security breach on my computer and he was calling me to help resolve the problem. This guy had no idea what he was in for and I was going to have some fun with him. I proceeded to keep him on the telephone for the next fifteen minutes trying to trouble shoot the problem while fighting with my "wife" for control of the computer because she was trying to buy clothes on Amazon while I was trying to trouble shoot with Microsoft. I would put the phone down and yell at her and then motion for her to scream back at me while pretending to throw things at each other and make a lot of noise while fighting for control of the computer. Eventually the guy saw through my bad acting because he politely told me to "take my computer and place it up my ass". Ah, little pleasures come from the most unexpected sources.

  27. Yeah. A couple of tricks -- put it (the output of the Pod Mini) through a Moogerfooger or some sort of similar analog drive pedal, compensates for the digititis a little bit. Or a tube headphone amp. In the digital world, I happen to really like the artifacting that paulstretching puts on everything, I am trying to figure out a way to separate that out as a separate digital effect. Unrelated -- one of my last two guitars that I ordered last year got shipped --yay! The fanned-fret Ormsby Violent Crumble HypeGTR 7-string. (Yes, another purple guitar, my first fanned fret.) There is a problem with the pink one however -- they can't find it. They don't think it was shipped. They have run across one or two mislabeled boxes, but as of now, they don't think it's in there. So he called me -- yup, long distance from Australia and everything. He offered me to either upgrade or paint something else pink, but it wouldn't be standard scale. I kind of don't want two of the same guitar. I told him I'd think about it -- I'm actually glad he sent the first one, because that means I can try a fanned fret before I decide. I'm a little worried that because he had so few standard scales ordered, that he's trying to bait-and-switch me into a fanned fret and give my standard scale either to someone closer or less on the fence, or to a store to sell. A little, not much, like 5% maybe. Here is what I wrote them (his wife Shivvy/Siobhan does the email side): Any thoughts? The double-cutouts are the HypeGTRs, and the singlecuts are the Tx (his tele-style, he also has an Sx, a strat style, which is very close to the Hype).
