  2. I could have said that just as easily as you did, and suspect that many other people feel the same way about it. It's like any hobby, I guess. There is that initial phase when you're all into it and spending a ton of time on it. In this particular hobby, that involves a lot of listening, experimenting with all sorts of gear, reading, reading, and more reading, and then eventually you start to think you have something to say, so you start posting, and every now and then you argue with others about things that have acquired a heightened sense of importance in your life... and for no particular reason other than that's how you've been spending your time. Then eventually, you lose interest in most of it, and certainly in the need to argue with others about things that really aren't (or shouldn't be) all that important in your life. So if it's headphones, you can say, "I thought they were good, you should give them a listen..." or if it's scotch, "I sure like it, you might want to add it to your list..." and then get on with things that actually do matter. Which, no doubt, is some new hobby that you now think matters, for some reason. At least if you're like most of the rest of us.

  6. As a gay man I'm given a secret packet that greatly expands my abilities on certain skill sets. One of those being interior design. While I'm not supposed to impart any of that knowledge to heterosexual America, I will go so far as to suggest that some strategically placed artwork could marry these sound transducers to your living room.

  8. Reks1 reminds me of my 8th grade engrish teacher. Thanks for letting me know my opinion is wrong because its not the same as yours. Will not change the fact that I much prefer their new bracelets. Also, you are more dumber. Why is everything always sexual with you Steve?

  17. This is certainly the most energy efficient way of doing this. No need to deal with the PSU losses from stepping up to 600V or so.

  18. Inefficient isn't always a negative. One of my favorite speakers is the Sonus Faber Extrema. But to get them to sing you need to feed them a shit-ton of power (it's kind of like Colin eating a meal). However it is more unusual for a headphone, with the obvious exception of the K1000.

  19. If the new Hodinkee Zenith had been released a year ago, I'd be lining up to get one. Hopefully Zenith gets the picture and continues on with smaller watches. This is a great size for a dressy chrono. You get dumber every time you open your mouth. It's pretty impressive, really. The old bracelets are extremely sturdy for their weight. This is why the Omega 1171 is a classic bracelet design: it doesn't weigh anything, but gets the job done. These are tool watches.

  20. This is something that gets ignored so often. Used tubes aren't NOS. Played records (or polished watches!) aren't mint. Worn shoes aren't brand new.

  22. I finally have a simple "ish" solution for the controller on the digital attenuator. I developed two boards. The first is a RK50 to Stepped Attenuator adapter board. It is the same size as the Stepped Attenuator board and will fit into an RK50 pinned board. The second is a controller board that supports a motorized POT with IR similar in function to AMB's controller, but as a smaller module with no built in display. A display could be added via the headers (I2C or SPI). It has an ATMEGA328P similar to the Arduino UNO or mini pro. The board is 1" x 2.5" and extends about a half an inch past the motorized POT. It can be programed via a programmer or via the FTDI USB boards. I need to double check everything, but I'll put an order in soon and test to make sure everything works ok.
