  1. Today, my DIY T2 has successfully come to life! After a year on and off working on this amp on my kitchen table, I was able to power up today and get music playing. All 4 batteries are sitting around 743V. The +/- voltages for each channel are surprisingly well balanced, and both L and R sit about +10V offset at power-on and gradually get down to about 2-4V offset at steady state. I measured the heatsink temperature -- looks like it's steady at 124F/51C after about 3 hours continuous burn-in. A shoutout to GeorgeP for enabling this build--one of my good buddies helped me reached out to you about a year ago for the case/amp board/torroid set. Thanks KG, Spritzer, and everyone else who posted all the useful information on every aspect of the amp on this thread. I learned a lot through the process of building this amp! One interesting thing I found while testing the PSU was that when I had both HV toroids hooked up and powered, the combined inrush blew through my 3.15A slow blow fuse (at 120VAC from the wall). I take it that the inrush of the 2x HV toroids (at least on my toroids) are pulling closer, but not quite, to 4A, since I was able to power up one HV toroid with a 2A fuse that I had left over. I have a 5A slow blow in there now, and so far no issues! -Kuen

  8. I thought I had a basic grasp of the tourbillon, until I chanced on a 3-axis version. Just a pity the cages look so roughly finished.

  10. What? No, not even maybe. Maybe compared to Luke Cage, but pretty much no other show I can think of (certainly not Dollhouse). And it was during (one of?) the conversation(s?) between Bernard and Ford where there was an automaton playing piano in the background (I the fact that they use largely pianos, and a variety of them, even during the opening credits) that I'm not recognizing the song. (wanders off, returns) Ooh, ooh, I was right, it was Debussy: Nice, another callback to "reveries".

  13. I didn't think so: most of the scenes with Dolores were quite measured. As were the scenes between Ford and Bernard. I thought the conversation between Teddy and Delores was lovely. I never know that Evan Rachel Wood was such a good actor. So, the woodcarver: I got the impression that he did that to himself to avoid being analyzed. Maybe part of the maze?

  15. Did you mean Satie, not Sartre? I don't remember the song. I thought episode three was pretty great. Answered a lot of questions, but raised new ones, too.

  16. I'm telling you, get it (or at least try the demo). FH3 is less about improving your racing skills than it is living out your car fantasies, but that doesn't mean it isn't an absolute blast to play.

  20. The AC user interface is hard to use to the point of being confusing often. As a game/sim that makes it hard to recommend but it is definitely more realistic for me and in theory.

  21. My audio buddy just sold his for a V281. I found the Oppo to be bright, harsh and generally nasty sounding. Not something I would ever recommend. YMMV.

  25. I have a pair of HD-600's which are driven by a Mjolnir Dynalo mk1 I got from Birgir, and although I find not to the same SQ level as my 009/BHSE, that 600 combo still sounds extremely good, and a bargain for what they cost me, having said that I do use a silver custom cable with those 600's which I find has improved the SQ to that from the Senn stock cable. As for the Shangri-La, not interested one bit, although I might audition the Utopia at sometime.

  28. Last night's show was a really good one in my estimation, marred by the fantastic equipment failure toward the end. Dusty is right, I hexed it by tweeting "90 minutes in: finally hit 70 BPM." I spend a couple hours today getting my Edirol UA-5 USB DAC/ADC to work with my Wintendo (ran the Vista driver installer in compatibility mode, boy THAT was one) so I could free up my M-Audio interface (which is even older, but class compliant) for future use with Mixlr. I'm gonna hafta do do a test broadcast at some point before Friday, to make sure the gosh darn thin works as it should.

  29. Sigh. Let me get out a towel and mop up the puddle of sarcasm at the bottom of my last post. Somebody might slip and fall. I'm not whining about not being able to afford new shinies. I'm whining about the value proposition of the hobby dropping out as a whole. I suppose it had to happen - headphones were in a bubble of sorts for a while. Manufacturers will jack up the prices as far as the market will bear. It just sucks to see it start to go, that's all.

  31. Xavier and I did a 25.75 mile training ride today. My Garmin was set for run instead of bike and I missed a bit, but we averaged almost 14mph with the first 8-10 at a 17mpg avg. We couldn't hang with my friend on her tri bike training for an Ironman, but Xavier killed it today! **BRENT** Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk

  33. Substitute a diet coke for the coke, and you have what I ordered regularly from there until I started my diet. I now just get 2 double bacon cheeseburgers instead of fries.
