You take care of stray animals, to a degree few of us here would. That says a lot about your character and humanity. I and I'm sure others recognize and commend that. Don't worry about getting our hopes up for the future of our country and world Off politics for a bit: my son got his first acceptance to college 2 days ago, along with $22k/yr scholarship award offer! BUT....the letter said it was Early Decision (binding). We confirmed we had sent Early Action (non-binding), so Andrew talked with admissions. New letter to come, still accepted right away, still the $22k/yr, and non-binding. It's too bad this is 3rd or 4th choice for Andrew. It happens to be closest to us and the only school in state he liked. But I think it bodes well for other schools......14 points

The new Elac UniFi series should be really good for relatively cheap $. I had the Debut B6 from the first series designed by Andrew Jones. A little soft up top, but good deep bass and otherwise lovely sound, all for $280/pr. The new $500/pr UniFi UB5 bookshlves should be more extended up top, with a 5" mid-bass driver and concentric mid-tweeter combo. The UF5 is a floorstander for $1k/pr. The Pioneer models he designed I thought were very good, but the Elac Debut B5's and B6's were leaps and bounds ahead IMO. They also make a sub and center if you want to try to go 5.1+3 points

Good thing happened too today, as comfortation. I got this today: This is the egmont clone that Birgir bought from China website. I was thinking for a long time for amplifier upgrade but I did not want to take 10 steps at a time, cuz I really want to progress slowly, for it's better and joyful to do. So with Birgir helping me a lot about lots of things, I bought it for the half of the price Birgir spent on it (not a discount, you can see how much he spent on this topic). Amplifier is extremely good for the money I spent, I've never listened it before modified but I read how bad it was before modified by him. But hey, he has magical hands. I mean, It is better than current top tier amps of Stax, imho. Thanks again Birgir. ps: I sold the bubble wraps and made some profit. Btw, I started to work about that top closure immediately. For a long time I wanted to work on granite. I'm making a granite cover for top of it. If I can succeed, I'll let you know when I start to work on full granite enclosures. And here is my current humble system:3 points

Pretty much what Dusty said. Actually, Raffy is a big proponent of 16. I think it helps when I'm using it in the office2 points

I listened to a lot of speakers in that range a couple of years ago. Almost all of them were not worth having. The only things I found that were were used and said Dynaudio on them.2 points

You're moving?! Good luck with your new setup and abode. Following Dusty's train of thought, I believe the standard HC approved option is Kef LS50 with sub? Rear ported so still needs space in the back. Not having any experience with WAF, my personal choice would of course be a Quad ESL 63.1 point

If you promise to make the case a long, drawn-out process (say, 4 years or so?), I'd be happy to be the precedent-setting international incident. SORBOTHANE! SORBOTHANE! SORBOTHANE!1 point

I would think that a 2.1 setup would be more likely to have a higher WAF, but what do I know? I haven't been married in years. Whatever you do, show her luvdunhill's setup first. That should move the bar of her expectations.1 point

Well, thanks. If my mistake caused anything good, I'm glad. But normally I'm very carefull about not stepping into bullshit. I only completely agree with Marx on showing true colours. It is a good thing to do. Well Proudhon believe it too. Well, some people like to keep things for him/herself. But showing yourself as different person, imho, so wrong to others, and cruel to yourself. So I agree with you Dusty, sir. You sirs are really so nice to me, even me being idiot before did not prevent it. I'm not saying that for licking asses but you are also so full of knowledge on this hobby, I see all of you as teachers or big siblings. And the best thing about this Community, you can go full force on bullshit. I'm still seeing myself on a thin ice, thb. got so many things to learn.1 point

Kerry, Sadly a quick google leads me to believe that you wont get enough out of the maggies to make a trade possible. I came across a couple adds for pairs in the $500 range... Given you skills, Kerry, I'd have a look a Selah Audio.1 point

...and made us show our true colours! Not that we don't wear our true colours on our sleeves, like a badge of honor. Well, most of us, anyway.1 point

A day early in the US? I'm not complaining. EDIT: Because .. #TheGrandTour launches on Amazon Prime Video. (...and that's from 00:01 GMT if you want to get specific) https://jalopnik.com/the-grand-tour-will-actually-debut-a-day-early-in-the-u-17890561231 point

I'm digging my Surface 4 so far. It has some issues from time to time but nothing I can't deal with. The keyboard works well. When I am using it, I tend to use the trackpad instead of the touchscreen. Just habit I guess. Way better in my office than my 5.5 year old MBA but that is to be expected. I'm glad I opted for 16 gb and 512 drive.1 point

So I've been playing with a Surface Pro 3 all week and I have to say, generally I'm very impressed. Windows 10 is way less awful than expected and the Surface itself is pretty awesome. I haven't reached for my iPad once. The real test will be upcoming travel where the plan is to only take the surface with me and see if I can survive a short trip. I think for content consumption it's more than adequate and the typecover is something I'd tried to implement on tablets before with terrible results. Granted, it's not a perfect solution but my #1 surprise is how much I like the hybrid experience of browsing with a touch screen but still having a trackpad for other things. Based on this I'll be eyeing the release of the rumored Surface 5 with interest.1 point

Well there is no more P+G as they stopped accepting orders in August. Still digital is better but I for one just prefer the feel of a quality pot.1 point
