  2. I am feeling serious toy envy now.
  3. Attended the Viper Nationals at Royal Purple Raceway last weekend. Needed a fix since I had to depart the Texas Mile early due to a family crisis. Some really cool rides there. I did a poor job of capturing pics of them (e.g. some Audi's, Lamborghinis and a lot of Corvettes). Here are a few shots though. Love the Snakeskin Green vipers. HS
  4. Our friend Søs made her legendary Danish bread for dinner. As much as I disapprove of carbs in general, OMFG.

  11. Similar design to the OEM but much larger. I actually like the OEM optional wheels. I will either look for someone dumping theirs or powder coat mine. Bald? I prefer a landing strip.
  12. stax is certainly not the only company doing this. krell in a whole bunch of its products puts in a custom microprocessor chip that looks at line frequency, so if you have a usa unit at 60hz it won't even turn on at 50hz. and of course a few have developed plug and play circuits to fake the 60hz.

  14. Very kind gesture of you and Gail. Very nice looking knife set too! Double well done!
  15. Who says millenials are lazy?
  16. Sad that you are more excited about pulling shots than taking them. Damn, we are getting old. That said, I'm jealous I'm not there!
  17. Have a great one Jeffy, and be excited that you don't have to file taxes on your birthday this year! Cheers

  19. I upgraded from the regular Sapphire to that one recently. I tend to get at least $300 a month in cash back so the fee is not an issue. Outside of their getting all uppity when I buy big stuff or travel a lot and shutting down the card "for my protection", it has been a pretty great card. I was told recently that they might try to submit my cash back as taxable income at some point since I tend to get so much back, as I spend like a mad man. Not sure if that is legitimate or not.

  21. 12v filament version posted pretty sure the original was done the way it was to accomodate the 6dj8 tubes for those that wanted to do that edit: the filaments of the output tubes are tied to -450v on the board

  24. Funny – I just put Supernature in the CD player and now I must buy Silver Eye. A glass of Knappogue Castle doesn't hurt the experience, either.

  26. Can't stop listening to Brad Mehldau, can't seem to get past this piece he played for an encore (almost verbatim). Those extra harmonization notes he chooses at 1:15 and 1:17 are sublime, though I think what he played when I saw him were slightly more dissonant, and I think I might have to start working on a simplified guitar version of his arrangement.
  27. Thanks Al. It was Gail's initiative and my work. Carved up and ready to go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  28. One could say that the legs of BJT is shifted one step to the right. So I just bent the legs accordingly and put a pin header in the left hole and then mount the transistor with desired torque . As I do it the pin header is hold in place by the crossed leg. Solder and it’s done. Few pictures below. Hope they show how I did it. I've modified one T2 and one Blue Hawaii this way. And it works fine.
  29. Today, my DIY T2 has successfully come to life! After a year on and off working on this amp on my kitchen table, I was able to power up today and get music playing. All 4 batteries are sitting around 743V. The +/- voltages for each channel are surprisingly well balanced, and both L and R sit about +10V offset at power-on and gradually get down to about 2-4V offset at steady state. I measured the heatsink temperature -- looks like it's steady at 124F/51C after about 3 hours continuous burn-in. A shoutout to GeorgeP for enabling this build--one of my good buddies helped me reached out to you about a year ago for the case/amp board/torroid set. Thanks KG, Spritzer, and everyone else who posted all the useful information on every aspect of the amp on this thread. I learned a lot through the process of building this amp! One interesting thing I found while testing the PSU was that when I had both HV toroids hooked up and powered, the combined inrush blew through my 3.15A slow blow fuse (at 120VAC from the wall). I take it that the inrush of the 2x HV toroids (at least on my toroids) are pulling closer, but not quite, to 4A, since I was able to power up one HV toroid with a 2A fuse that I had left over. I have a 5A slow blow in there now, and so far no issues! -Kuen
  30. I finally got the last plate machined. I had to replace the spindle on my CNC and also made a mistake on the CAD so had to redo this plate, but it's looking great now.
