I don't, but you have to start somewhere. Besides, the "Texas Crutch" isn't the end of the world.4 points

I would suggest PMing HeadphoneAddict and working out the details on how to handle this situation.4 points

I like the powerful amps with "flat" sound, like Dynalo/hi or Beta22, so the Carbon is the one that best suits my tastes between the GG/KGST/SRX-P. For this reason, Carbon has become my reference amplifier for Stat. Anyway, I'm not being fair because I haven“t found a quad of valves for the GG that sound good to me. Maybe when I try the 6CA7 I will be more comfortable with the GG. Excuse the long answer for such a short question3 points

Waited over five hours to get this mother fucking burger. If it is not the best burger I ever had, I will burn this place down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

Filet's with an orzo salad. Steaks were in the water bath for 90 minutes @ 126F, then seared on the Weber over the Slow n Sear for about 30 seconds on each side. Neither of us were fond of the orzo salad. If we do it again it will need major tweaking. But the steaks made up for it. Tender as they get. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Since the grounded grid/Carbon is getting all the love these days and I'm too lazy to build one from scratch, I thought why not just make a little adapter board for my KGST. Just a rough draft I whipped up in 10 minutes, will need revision. One of those revisions is Kicad suddenly deciding it didn't want to orient the 3D model headers correctly and gave a totally wrong size for the disc caps.2 points

Dropped my car off to the insurance service center after driving into a pole pulling out of a spot like a Brent-level moron. At the lake now though so not all bad. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk2 points

Normal cholesterol today! Dropped my total cholesterol from 242 in April to 189 today. Yeah baby! Celebrating with ribs and brisket. [emoji106]1 point

It was pretty good, but not perfect. Oddity #1 - the thicker part of the brisket was the least tender. Not sure what is going on there. Possibly just a function of being the flat as opposed to the point. Observation #1 - I used too much rub. Not a problematic amount, but more than needed. Otherwise the flavor and smoke were very good so at least I got that part right. Also need to work on my trimming skills. The fat cap I left was a bit on the thick side as it remained on a majority of the pieces but was easily trimmed.1 point

Generally speaking, Carbon has the speed and the balances or neutrality more than GG. The GG has better fluidity and musicality. On top of that, the GG is more tubes like and the Carbon is all....Solid State. Your personal preferences will be the decisive factors. I love those J&J1 point

The pole was on the passenger side and not visible from within the car. I turned as I backed out and it nailed my front door and quarter panel. Only place it was visible was the passenger mirror (which I should have checked). I figured since it was at least moderately understandable why I hit it that it was about Brent level. As I read this, I have to consider what level of Moron that leaves you in? My math puts Brent and the pole ahead of you.1 point

3Dio "Free Space Pro II" binaural microphone. They have an entry level model at $500. Wasn't sure where to put this, ultimately decided here, as they look funny. Oh, and "omni" model:1 point

Here's a few of the Amplifer Case interior. Signal input is not final. Assembled with a TDK 4CP-2500 volume control from s recent GB. The ALPS RK50 is waiting for me have a machine shop make me an adapter plate (already designed). Wire from the PCBs to the STAX jack is not final (too short). Longer solid silver/gold teflon wire on order. Also, to do: devise a permanent Star/Chassis Ground connection. A better solution is needed, The photo of with the top plate installed is from an earlier trial fitting. Shown with Svetlana Winged C EL-34 (2000 vintage). Even on a short listen, they sounded like "Meh...." Now up and running with a matched quad of JJ 6CA7s. Highly preferred, this amp sings now. Thanks for the tip Whitigir! Also to note, in the umbilical with the heater wires tightly twisted and all the other wires scramble wound, there is zero, zip, nada, NO hum. Deathly quiet.1 point

Now that's a helpful review. I can now walk away without any curiosity to try their products. And you managed that in 14 words. I'd like to see John Atkinson do that!1 point

I first tried it out with the Focal Elears, only have an AQ Dragonfly Red to compare. Less fatiguing to listen to than the dragonfly, and the headphone out seems to coax a lot of bass out of the Elears - overall very enjoyable, though I don't really use dynamic headphones for critical listening anymore. I think the headphone out combined with the size makes it a good alternative to the Yggdrasil based on the features. I'll definitely use the headphone out more though, electrostatics and summer weather don't get along. I haven't messed with the crossfeed too much, but I can say it works. Overall I'm not the biggest fan of the selectable filters and crossfeed, makes me feel like they were trying to please too many people at once. I left it running for like 8h (accidentally), the case got to around 110 F but it was still chugging along fine. Probably a fair bit hotter inside. Maybe worth noting that the 1541's enclosure is vented, while the Yggdrasil seems to be sealed as far as I can tell. Just set it up with the T2 > 007 mkii chain, feeding it with a Wavelink HS so I can try out some of my Hi-Res PCM stuff. This is the same setup I use for the Yggdrasil, no direct USB connection. I'll hold off on more detailed impressions, but in comparison to the Yggdrasil the soundstage is a lot smaller - definitely don't get that same impression of spacing & air between voices/instruments/etc. In general vocals seem to be up close and personal, that's the first thing that caught my attention while listening on the electrostatic setup. The treble is also a bit harsher on the 1541, which you can tune a bit with the filter selections. There's also a bit more bass impact. Maybe it's from the differences in filtering? Or maybe I just bought into Schiit's filter marketing pitch haha. Overall it seems like the 1541 is a bit livelier and intimate in its presentation, but more fatiguing to listen to. Of course things like fatigue have to be assessed over a longer listening period, so grain of salt etc. To-do (vs. Yggdrasil) Compare USB inputs Hook up a Legato II, compare redbook performance Get a picture for size comparison, it's pretty amusing Find a balanced input selector - any suggestions?1 point

I think joehpj may have more. That's where I got mine. Mine's up and running and doing long listening tests, finally enjoyable. Details to finish, along with getting the left channel opt servo to work. Sounds glorious. Thanks to Kevin and Spritzer. These electrostatic amps that Kevin designs and Birgir fine tunes are just an incredible learning resource. They are damn near fool proof and bullet proof. And drive my SR-009'with TOTL SQ. Also, kudos to all the experienced members here on Head-Case for the elevated discussion. Now back to my listening. Nanci Griffith is singing to me in my living room.1 point

my soekris 1541 arrived, the knob is a bit wonky - it's misaligned, scrapes against the faceplate for a portion of its rotation. luckily it only matters for the headphone connection. need to listen more but it's not bad so far. one advantage it has over the yggdrasil is that it's like 1/10 the size1 point
