  1. Hold your horses, Steve. This is full on Straight Eye For The Queer Guy. No feature walls. No coordinated throw pillows. Just places to sit and spots for gear and a few other amenities like a kegerator with beer, wine and Diet Coke taps for your HC guests. ?

  2. It's not what I did, but what others are doing for me. I just found out that Al is at my new apartment, setting it all up for my arrival. That is so touching and so very cool! I seem to be alternating between grinning like an idiot and tearing up like a little kid. It's been like that since it all became real a few weeks back. I hope that I'm able to express how in awe I am at what everyone has done for me! You people have my heart always! This is the best group of people I've ever known! Head-Case Strong, Head-Case Proud!

  4. Have seen the apartment. It does exist. "Decor" might be pushing it a bit, definitely needs a bunch of audio gear and a small fluffy dog.

  8. Most of their work is in the city, in the Castro. I mentioned that I was gay during the phone interview, and he laughed and said that he would benefit from that, as gay customers would feel more comfortable with a gay project manager. Just a little different than the Corpus Christi area. I'm driving out on Oct. 26th. I think it's all covered. The apartment decor is a surprise, so not sure what's what, but I'm sure it's going to be awesome! I managed to save most of my tools by taking them with me when I fled Harvey.

  9. I'm moving back to Fairfax, where I'll be working as a project manager for a remodeling company. All thanks to Al's tireless brush beating. He also found me the cutest In-Law apartment as well. It's not only really nice, an easy walk to Al's or downtown Fairfax, but it's also quite a bargain for the area. And they love dogs!

  10. I admit to being the most obsessed about this stuff, but I also have help from Stretch and Grahame and everyone who chipped in to make this possible for Steve. For now, I'll only say one word about the decorating theme: No Family Like Ours.

  11. RIP Monty Hall. I wonder if St. Peter gave him the choice to take what's behind door #1, door #2 or door #3.

  12. Spent all day today taking out tile with a jackhammer and removing popcorn ceiling. It looked so easy on YouTube . The tiles look great Doug, Steve. It is hard work. The lady on the second floor came up 5 minutes after I started and demanded to see the approval letter from the HOA. I showed it to her. She ripped it up and said I needed to go back and get another one. Then proceeded to ask me for identification and proof of citizenship. I told her to go buzz off. Police arrived. I told them what happened and showed them the ripped up letter. They told me to go back to taking up the tile. The next door neighbors arrived around 9pm and said she is a nightmare to deal with but her brother is the HOA treasurer so she gets away with this bullshit. Jackhammering shall resume promptly at 6am tomorrow. Next door neighbors left for the day and she is the only one on the floor below.

  18. Heh, I typically tell clients that if a situation seems too good to be true, to be very suspicious, but since it is an Al thing I guess we will give him the benefit of the doubt but watch him closely.

  21. Appetizers while orange chicken cooks in the oven. Bacon wrapped, cream cheese stuffed jalepeno peppers. A friend has been dropping off a half dozen or so for a few weeks and this has become a staple.

  23. Nice, it seems like there must be tons of high end remodeling in that market. Al has awesome powers, luckily he uses them for the good. When do you move? Do you need anything for the new job/house?

  25. Wanted to add that this week they added HBO for those of us that don't have DirectTV through DirectTV Now. I've signed up and gotten HBO Go working on my various Amazon and Xbox devices. Makes this a no-brainer for me since I've not had HBO for a few years since Comcast stopped including it in the bundles they offer me.

  30. Thanks JP. I ordered another chair from the same vendor, in “upgraded” leather. I think it could have been packed a bit better, you can see on the front corner of the seat where it was compressed in shipping. I think it will even out, but still. The leather is decent, I expect the cheaper option wouldn’t be passable. Will be a good office chair for the home-office-bedroom.

  31. Did 3 of my normal path rides around the lake this week (6.2 mi). Only pulled a biscuit boy once when an old(er) guy's dog ran out in front of me. Managed to unclip and stop, but still fell over. No damage... unlike the biscuit [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  34. Broke out my old Dynalo because I needed a single-end output amplifier to use with the Focal Elear when I first got it. Ended up casing it up while I had some free time. Running on TPA's Placid HD power supply tuned for 18VDC and 50mA shunt current. Will likely play with that when I feel up for it.

  35. I can't wait to drink the tears of all the keyboard warriors pushing their lame group-think agenda and spamming the HF Z1R thread when they finally realize Jude's measuring setup is slightly better than pieces of leather, some foam, and a mannequin head they stole from a Macy's. Coincidentally, Sony's measuring setup is a bit better as well.

  36. Having built hundreds of these PSU's over the last 10 years I know they will only act like that when there is a short on the board. Now what's causing the short can be a number of factors, sloppy soldering, flux or just a sub-par PCB. It is so often over looked that PCB's aren't the same and some are just crap. Are the pass transistors sourced from Mouser? There are some fakes out there which could be a factor...
