Okay, now mid-way through Too Old To Die Young (Prime). THIS IS SOMETHING SPECIAL. Is it meandering, indulgent, and too violent? Yep. Can I sell it to you as great? I'm still not sure. But if you can put up with its vices, do the practically exhausting work to meet halfway, and float on its language and tension, it's an exciting ride to watch an artist create (and only one will take you here). Like movies (which each of these 60-90 minute structured episodes pretty much are), television is such a collaborative medium, it's exciting to see an actual personality surface. Many critics have issues with this series. I don't blame them. I also don't think there are many television achievements this grand, even in this new golden age we're in. It's pretty dark though. Be prepared.2 points

Met Aumkar and listened to the RR1 at CanJam today, two very pleasant experiences. The headphones sounded really nice out of both setups, one a KGSSHV (from birgir I think) and the other a little koss amp (the one that goes with their headphones, Massdrop version). I had a very pleasant listen with the smaller setup being run from an iBasso DAP (maybe DX150). I seriously would have bought that whole little setup on the spot for listening on vacation or the office. It had excellent bass and an extremely musical, engaging sound. I'll probably buy a pair of these when they are for sale. Aumkar is a great guy! Thanks for the overview and good luck.2 points

After living with one for a week, I would say the Sony OLED beats out the equivalent LG in every way but the operating system. Android is such a clunky piece of shit for a TV...or phone. ? The weird speakers built into the A9F are excellent for TV speakers.1 point

https://www.factmag.com/2019/06/24/autechre-warp-tapes-89-93-for-free/ Oh snap. '89-93 is the era when Ae made music that I actually liked. Well, to be fair, they did decent stuff through 1995. In any case, that's some prime vintage material they're giving away. For some reason, the Fact mag link is giving me trouble, so I had to go here: https://www.residentadvisor.net/news/43993 File is 1.1 GB on Wet Trans Fur.1 point

Been to my local watch repairer to try thinner spring bars with those end links, and the alligator strap didn’t even come close to fitting, he then removed those end links and tried just the thinner spring bars and the strap was still catching on the watch leaving a mark, so I had him put the bracelet back on. Like Sam said the Rolex bracelet is comfortable so it won’t be coming off anymore. As I’ve previously mentioned, I am eventually getting a Cellini Rhodium dial, and when the time comes I’ll have that alligator strap fitted.1 point

Ulysses, On Safari yet another SMOD find, but this is hippie dippy psychedelic instead. Listen to this song from their previous album: https://ulyssesgb.bandcamp.com/track/song-that-has-to-be-sung (...and then listen to the entirety of On Safari ) Previous was also retro psych rock, too, with a serious Jeff Lynne fetish, and I dig. https://aurablaze.bandcamp.com/1 point

Watch looks very nice, Dave. Wore my OP all day in beach and sand. Can't speak enough to how comfortable it wears with the oyster bracelet and how comfortable I felt taking into the sea knowing it was going to be perfectly fine under water. Love this watch for all its simplicity, elegance and simple form / function. It's just a great all a-rounder. HS1 point

Damn, dude. Oliver Lieb just put the entirety of his 2014 album Inside Voices up on YouTube: Even in YT quality, this thing is worth a listen if one is remotely interested in minimal, ambient IDM etc. OL is one of the most consistent producers in all things electronic. He's had a stellar track record since his first release in 1989. Mostly he produces dancefloor oriented techno, which managed to be interesting enough that one might want to actually listen to it in a setting outside of the nightclub. 5 years ago he decided he wanted to produce a piece of art that had nothing to do with club culture and boy did he ever.1 point

In. I've been tied to Chase and Citibank for twenty years now and so far all I get is a spanking each month when the fees hit my account so what's the risk?1 point

Went to a neighborhood block party, went from 2pm to past 11pm when all was said and done. Really great time, one of the neighbors set up a nice inflatable movie screen that the kids loved. In the middle of it, hosted a few folks for some Bourbon and Scotch (later had to help one of said folks home as he was quite inebriated!).1 point

Just finished testing a new version of the battery with the LT1021-7 reference. From what I can measure, it seems quieter on the scope (mostly above 25KHz) than the LED version. It's nice to be able to test without risking the whole amp I'll probably start using the LT1021-7 in the GRHV supply as well since it needs less current to operate. I'm currently feeding it about .94mA with the base of the transistor it connects to pulling about 70uA from that as well.1 point

Speaking of Acros (first)... well, an Alien Skin simulation for Fuji users applied to a Leica DNG... still struggling a little with the M240 output, but love shooting with it. Here with a Voigtländer 35 f/1.7 Ultron. Finished in Snapseed for viewing on phone. No child was injured in the taking of these photos.1 point

Just finished eating a couple of Sirloins done on the Weber. Did a simple salt, pepper and garlic rub and then a Rosemary butter baste using Rosemary sprigs to do the basting. More importantly, this was the initial run for my new MEATER Block. True wireless meat probes with a nice phone app. I was cooking these to a non HC medium rare (15 year old taste buds) and it came out absolutely perfect. No guess work. Very pleased. I did have to wait a fucking Long time as it was bought on Kickstarter. They have a web site now so you should not have to wait a year and a half for yours.1 point
