Tried a recipe from a restaurant, Pastabilities, in Syracuse, NY as seen on DIners, Drive-Ins and Dives, called Wicked Chicken Riggies. Basically chicken and rigatoni in a spicy tomato cream sauce. Quite good and the whole family enjoyed it. I'll be doing it again. The recipe makes a huge portion of the sauce; I cut it in half and still have enough for another meal for 4. Sorry, I'd already started eating before I took the pic3 points

That assumes that I eventually get the 'vide cooker that I've had for over a year up and running. It's still in the box in storage... ME FAIL.3 points

Watched the series finale of Homeland last night and. thought it was a satisfying ending to a bumpy but enjoyable show. It was great to see and hear Kamasi Washington play during the episode. With the frequent Showtime freebee's, I'm happy to report that I watched all 8 seasons without spending a penny! I give it a 7 out of 10.2 points

No worries, n8. Just make it part of your homeschooling syllabus! In case it helps you get started, I reheated some things: Bag juice + SBR's Sweet 'n' Spicy reduction, with some cayenne added for a kick Now I need to get some King's Hawaiian rolls to make some pulled pork sliders.2 points

^ Water sports and double fisting in the same post! 😉 Just quoting a few lines, cause they're funny in hindsight (like going back to early iPod reviews), linked off the above Hodinkee article. "The Apple Watch is an incredible piece of engineering, no doubt. It is still not as cool as a mechanical watch, to real people." Ouch. "In the same way those who publicly wore bluetooth headsets five years ago and those who wore Google Glass one year ago, will smartwatches ever become a thing that people genuinely want?" "Imagine a man who grew up in the middle class, went to a decent school, got an okay job, lives in a nice apartment in some metropolitan town, maybe drives a German car and occasionally splurges on something nice for himself. Do you see him wearing the Apple Watch? I don't."2 points

I have had no trouble using the zip with jlcpcb in china, I have sync rectifiers in my grlv in my blue hawaiis, mini t2s, psus I made for my dacs and a preamp I made,. Please be aware the sync rectifier will not work with centre tapped windings . so if you are making a grLV you need two independent windings and two sync rectifiers,. you cant use the GRLV option for centre tap and one rectifier I have tested it myself the sync rect does not work in this configuration but a normal diode rectifier does. The pin pitch is rather small and you need to check very carefully for shorts between pins 3 and 4, (pins 1-3 are internally connected together) and between the metal base and pins 1-4. I created a small test rig for the sync rect, I used a spare grlv board, put a female header where the rectifier solders in, added a largish value smoothing cap and bring the sync rectifier under test up slowly using a current limited dc supply and when I believe its ok, I swap the polarity of the dc supply and repeat so all 4 psmn040 are tested. I then use a 15v transformer and bring the sync rectifier up slowly on a variac. So far I have had one psmn040 smoke, I think I had a soldering short between the metal base and pins 1 or 2 or 3 or 4. Fortunately the expensive lt4320 survived without issue and I was able to reuse it. the test rig also includes wire loops for attaching a multi meter, scope and electronic dc load. I populated the diode next to the cap and one led partly to help drain the cap and to give a visual indication the board is live. Once the board has passed variac tests, I test switch on with no variac so the cap will cause a reasonable inrush, then I test with an electronic DC load up to 2A. .2 points

My wife has a Garmin I bought her for Xmas and she's a fan. Wears it more than her Omega or Cartier anniversary gifts. Not my thing, but more power to those that are into it. I love audio, video, automobile, laptop, tablet and mobile phone tech. Interconnectivity is a bonus. The smart watch has not called me given the mobility a phone offers but I expect I'm missing something. Won't keep me up at night, though...LOL. HS1 point

I made sloppy joes yesterday. It’s basically the same as my goulash recipe, except I run everything through a food processor first. Jar of pasta sauce (I used a Fra Diavola(?sp) this time) 1 can tomato paste 1 thing of mushrooms 1 thing of cauliflower 13 stalks of celery Cumin White pepper Black pepper Hungarian hot paprika 1 whole onion 5 red Thai peppers 1 package of ground meat (I used chicken this time) Beef broth Rice to soak up the extra liquid, and change the consistency from soupy to sloppy-joey And a dollop of garlic to taste no olives this time Bonus techno-fuckery1 point

ER, I love it. Super happy with the Jean Rousseau alligator strap I had made with the deployant clasp...that was a game changer for the watch both in wearability and aesthetics for me. The 39mm is a sweet spot for me given I also have a relatively small wrist. I've included a crappy pic which doesn't do it justice, but it's the best I have at the moment. As for the gin, you really need to address that gap! My bar has never been so loaded and my liver has never worked as hard as since this virus arrived... HS1 point

I'm wearing mechanicals for the first time in weeks. Why don't they unlock my computers when I walk nearby? Anyway, attached is a comparison of JLC and Cartier blued-hands. I think the JLC hands are a bit nicer, at least on a less-than-sunny day. There is a slight variation in the thermal-bluing, so I'd say that all of these are hand-blued, but the JLC hands are done slightly slower, which is why they pop so much.1 point

The Lady of the Lake by Andrzej Sapkowski Really great – the final novel in the 5-part series. Oddly, I have a feeling Michael Moorcock would love reading these books... there was talk of a lawsuit years ago re: the Witcher vs. Elric, but I think Moorcock dropped it. Sapkowski uses a variety of literary devices (moving the story out of chronological order, shifting the perspective to different characters, etc.) to excellent effect and he is able to maintain a lot of the humor and charm of the series while the characters pursue their epic quest. There is also a bit of the medieval brutality and eye for detail that you read in George R.R. Martin's books. I'm not sure if Sapkowski had read them in the 90s while he was writing these books in Polish.1 point

Today has been a nice and interesting day. I finished a mini T2 with active battery. The copper color board on right side in picture in previous post. Late afternoon I were ready for the first power on. One DMM to measure one side verses ground and another to measure the other side. High voltage clicked in – no explosion – on side showed a few volts verses ground while the other almost 400 volt verses ground. It took some time for me to realize that the 400 volt reading in fact was the BIAS. I’m getting to old for this. When I found the right measuring points I had very nice readings. Batteries are always interesting. Readings as follow. Left +194V and -443V, right +196and –443V. So they also seem to be alright. (using 640V instead of original 740V) Connecting headphone. Very noticeable hum but the music sounded good. After a while very annoying noise came. The noise almost disappeared when I approached the trimmer with the screwdriver but came back when I pulled back my hand. Turned power off and changed the small tubes, power up again, lower my guard and went for a cup of coffee and… it all exploded… So tomorrow I have to fix the power supply for the second time within a week. On amplifier board visible; burned traces, resistors and one popped transistor. Maybe I should feed ducks.0 points
