  1. The golden reference supplies work very well in the T2. I've been using it for a while now with no issues. You do need to take the raw DC after the 10m90s current limiters though. I'm using a single IXTP08N100D to limit the current for each supply. You should be able to get away with a single 10m90s for your 150V supply if you adjust the set resistor accordingly. The current draw there should be around 50mA. I've added a protection diode (1N4007) with the cathode connected to the base of Q6 and the anode connected to 0V. I also got rid of D3. Here's my T2 supply (I've been meaning to post this for a while) - all the high voltages are Golden Reference supplies (even the -60V using a negative version of the GRHV79xxx). I've very pleased with how it performs Good luck!

  2. Spicy pork and beans. My first ever, with the Rancho Gordo beans. I made it too spicy, but I can still taste the bean broth! It otherwise came out perfect.

  5. I'm a fan of Michelins. I NEVER experience the quoted mileage on any tire, but generally Discount Tire is good for a credit albeit a half assed one when I replace tires. Bridgestone is another good brand so I doubt you'll go wrong with either. You'll never ever see me post that about Goodyear...spitting noises ensue... HS

  6. Hope it works for you now. If not I’ve got some other ideas.

  7. I find this guy's tire reviews to be excellent and his roundup includes a few that you named, Al. Maybe check out this video/his channel?

  8. We just had to replace the tires on the Touareg with less than 30k miles. I hit a piece of metal, and it was non-repairable. But the rear edge of the inside had worn through just like the OE tires did with 25k miles, so they were already past due getting replaced. Each time I only missed on rotation. We ended up with a different Michelin than you posted about... I'll check when I get home but I think they're the Latitude Tour HP. They said at the shop that regardless of what we put on it, the Touaregs and the Porche platform-mates go through the rears like that regardless of alignment. He didn't say anything about the Lexus SUVs, but said the BMW and MB SUVs have similar odd tire wear and 25-30k is to be expected. Crazy. That said, the Michelins are much better than the Bridgestones they replaced. They are quieter, better over road irregularities and seem better planted. EDIT: Confirmed they’re the Latitude Tour HP.

  9. the 45k miles is a joke. i had 4 sets of the as3,3+ over the years and never got more than 30k. completely even wear. different car of course, but would expect the suv to be worse. those high mileage tires are not going to ride as nice.

  11. I don't have channeling issues very often. I do have to play with the grind setting as I purchase new coffee, or adjust a smidge as the beans age but these are very minor tweaks to grind setting (well less than one tick on the Niche). I pre-infuse with the Lelit Bianca at 2 bar for roughly four seconds and then swing the paddle for higher pressure until the gauge hits 9 bar. Seems to work pretty well. One thing I have concluded is I can torture myself with a less roasted bean trying to hit the sweet spot for espresso or I can purchase a bean clearly roasted for espresso (plenty dark) and make my life much easier hitting my marks. Much darker notes on the heavily roasted beans so it's a taste thing. HS

  13. Here a schematics. Four connections to main board. The raw DC is taken before the two 10m90s current limiters. Better would be after the limiters but no free hole for it. Works like a charm I wrote. Yes, charming it is when it works. When it suddenly stops working and give 13V instead of 150V – that is more annoying than charming. It has happened two times so far since my last post. Not sure what’s wrong but I change Q5 (dual small PNP) with a new piece and then it works for couple of hours. Now I’m just waiting for the next breakdown. Suggestions what might cause the problem are welcome!

  14. The Oracle and the Dual Boiler have the same basic mechanism, so yeah, it works the same way. I don’t think my having the OPV set much lower than factory affects the preinfusion, but my having a different solenoid very well may: I’m running at 80, which on my machine gives me a solid 1/2 bar preinfusion. My understanding is that it’s percentage of pump pressure, yeah.

  15. Ok, right-click and then "save as" works, but then the file needs to be renamed to .pdf in order to be able to open it. Chrome saves it on macos as undefined. Must be something with the formatting thats wrong.

  17. Almost a year has elapsed since I reduced the 300V section to 150V. The amplifier has worked well, and I haven’t noticed any sonically differences. So, some time ago I decided to make the same change on my modified T2 and its original T2 PSU we have at our summer cottage. But unfortunately, it was not possible to bring the voltage down to 150V. 190 – 200V was the lowest I got. I’ve had a Golden Reference power supply for the T2 in mind for a long time. Now I had to do something the get the desired 150V section with the original T2 PSU… Made a daughter board with GRHV regulator for the original T2 PSU. Works like a charm.

  18. Can't speak to either of those, but I would look for one with built in micro adjustment. And perhaps for something even smaller (1.5HP) since weight is a factor.

  19. I used graph paper and made scale cut outs of the tools and cabinets to see how they would fit. I'm not sure what you mean by wanting ideas for cabinets so you might need to give more information like what kind of work you're going to do in the shop and what you need to store, etc. Upper cabinets for my shop were from a kitchen I helped remodel and then we built the base cabinets.
