  1. The 007 may be more accurate to you but that is certainly not the case for others. Trying to make everybody understand that you are right and everybody else is wrong is a losing proposition. There are just too many subjective factors in the way our ears and brains process information.

  2. If those supposed resonances had a real impact in the frequency response perception when listening to headphones, we'd need audiometers for clinical use with individual calibration

  3. Everyone has different-shaped pinnae, which mean different resonance peaks. We need to model pinna-related transfer functions with parametrization over anthropological measurements to even attempt to "equalize" frequency response.

  7. i dont have the back catalog to compare to, but it's a damn strong album. they have an interesting sound, the guitars aren't overly sharp edged, and with octave vocal dubs and some industrial sounding parts to my ear. like if you blended gravity kills with depeche mode or something. it's been my commute music all week.

  8. Sorry I am still keeping mine. There are those cheap (and apparently just fine) Garmin knock offs that Amazon sells.

  9. Awesome! I also noticed that he has no tree branches, gravel or other road/trail debris attached to him, so I'm deducing that he's a much better rider than Dad.

  10. Frightening picture of a child predator. WH40K memes are no less stupid than other ones, but their specificity amuses my inner nerd. Cold day in the Rockies.

  12. Mildly interested. It would take a lot to pry that kind of cash from me for an upgrade. I'm still quite happy with my mk2.

  13. I'm always back of the pack, largely because fitbit doesn't pick up my indoor workouts. Took it outside yesterday and had some fun in the rain with Xavier. Now? Who knows. I am going to Universal Studios Friday/Saturday, so I expect things may get interesting. **BRENT**

  14. 2 input boards, 4 driver boards, 4 output boards one grlv @ 30v or 2 if you really want to do dual mono one grlv @ 40v or 2 if you really want to do dual mono one or 2 bigass transformers, stack of unregulated caps and 25 amp diode bridges mounted to the bottom. current version looks a bit different. for the driver board, can stuff parts either top or bottom (other than opamp) and all the holes line up to stack all 3 boards on top of each other.

  15. So we spent too much time trying to get Xavier's bike set up this weekend, plus rain and busy-ness kept us from riding. Well, he was really wanting to ride so we loaded up and went out to play in the rain. It was a blast! We wound up on a busy road to start but we went exploring and found a large parking lot that was mostly empty. He seems to have the shifting in the rear down now, and he LOVES riding in the drops, after I told him it was an option. While we were drenched and a little cold, we had a fantastic time. It was also the first time my bike had been off the trainer all year. It is bloody amazing the difference I feel riding after having most over 30 pounds. I'm really excited to get out a lot more this year. **BRENT**

  18. The SC-1 is similar from memory but I will get a new one soon. I've been buying all the important Lambdas recently with the entire stash still sitting in Japan. Then it will be time to build some sort of a display for the entire Stax collection.

  19. The worst feeling is realizing you listen to the majority of tunes in the car. But you enjoy it and thump along anyway. So the best feeling.

  20. I <3 my L3Ks. The Qualias need to seriously be positioned correctly. They are ridiculously sensitive to position.

  21. Agreed. We recently attended a head-fi meet in a manner so ironic we didn't actually bother to listen to anything.

  22. We care about food, bicycling, personal health, cars, competitive racing games, alcohol, DIY, and each other here. Not in that order. Headphones might not even be the most popular thing, any more.

  23. I just saw that T-Mobile's "Music Freedom" deal (where they allow you to stream music from a ton of services without incurring data charges) just added a bunch... one of them is Tidal. I have an older unlimited plan, so doesn't affect me, but I do 5-10GB/mo with Tidal, so this would be pretty fantastic. Music services include: Apple Music Pandora iHeartRadio Rhapsody Beatport Spotify Slacker Radical.FM 8tracks Milk Music Black Planet Songza Rdio Radio Paradise AccuRadio SoundCloud Saavn Digitally Imported JAZZRADIO.com ROCKRADIO.com RadioTunes radioPup radio.com Mad Genius Radio Xbox Music Live365 Fresca Radio Google Music Fit Radio SiriusXM Tidal Music MixRadio BandCamp **BRENT**
