February 5, 201412 yr Does anyone have a strong recommendation for an office chair? I currently have an Aeron which I like well enough, so getting a second is not out of the question. However, I am interested if there are others people like better. I used to have a Knoll Bulldog which I did not really like as it was too bulky and just didn't fit right. I was looking at the Steelcase Think for no particular reason other than it just seemed to stand out. The Think or Aeron are at the absolute top of the price range -- cheaper would be better.

February 5, 201412 yr My back was messed up a couple of years ago due to having to sit all day so i got a swopper, sounds weird, looks even weirder but the pain is gone and my back is strong and healthy now. It Basicaly forces your spine into a natural shape and engages muscles that would be inactive in a normal chair. It's like one of those balls but it doesn't take as much space and it's adjustable. Not really a chair i know but maybe of interest to someone.

February 6, 201412 yr I've long wanted to try an Aeron, but I'm right in the damn middle of the sizing chart between B and C. Nowhere local to try one out, scared to buy and get the wrong size. The new Mirra 2 also looks interesting. Seems to be taking a page from the Steelcase Leap, in that it adjusts to you.
February 6, 201412 yr My favorite is still the Allsteel Acuity that we had at my last office. Much preferred them to the Aerons we had before the move. Edited February 6, 201412 yr by cetoole
February 7, 201412 yr Herman Miller's new chair, Embody, makes Aeron feel like a PoS. Also, if you don't care about having a new chair there are amazing deals available from office liquidators.
February 22, 201412 yr All of these chairs are $500 chairs -- does anyone have any cheapskate recommendations? I'd be pretty heart-broken if my cat shredded a $500 chair, but I'd be less concerned over something like a CostCo chair or an Ikea chair (looking at the Markus). I have been and am going to continue to be using my home chair a lot more these days.
February 22, 201412 yr i use a 'church' chair, they are like $30 when the easy chair and a laptop wont work i don't like casters, they are the first thing to break
February 22, 201412 yr I use one of these. http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/510830/Realspace-PRO-Quantum-9000-Series-Mesh/ I like it. With a bad lower back, the chair has been extremely comfortable. Having mesh all around is a blessing as it aids in ventilation. Keeps me cool in the south florida heat.
September 4, 201411 yr if I was spending a lot of time in my home desk chair, I'd probably still get a leap, and then just cover it if I had cats. Back pain sucks. As it is, I have a decent office max chair I spent $75 on and it works for the hour a week I'm in it.
September 4, 201411 yr Craigslist too, Dusty. I see used office furniture dealers in my local one a fair amount. Was thinking of getting my son a nice desk and chair for his room.....(saw a gorgeous dark cherry desk, good size, nice drawer space, and good build quality, for under $200).
September 4, 201411 yr ^ That is good advice. For example: http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/fuo/4649423044.html Lots of other listings. I'm sorely tempted by a stained but fully functional Leap v2 for $100. We already have a Bissel spot cleaner at the house because of the kids.
October 31, 201411 yr Author Only took 8 months, but I finally picked up a chair. Ended up with the Aeron, again. This time I went armless as I am tired of my headphone cable constantly getting tangled, and of not being able to scoot under the desk..
May 13, 201511 yr So maybe some of you can answer an Aeron question for me: if I do NOT get the tilt limiter with seat angle adjustment, and instead just get the standard tilt, can I still lock the chair in the fully upright position? I don't care about locking it while its reclined, but I would like to be able to lock it when its fully upright. Several months ago I was in New Orleans and went into a crazy high end store and actually got to try out both the B and C sizes, and determined that I am a B. Surprising because the C looks more appropriate for me, but I spent about 10 minutes in both and in the B I immediately sit upright, have good back support, and was comfortable.
May 14, 201511 yr Screw it I just bought the fully adjustable model with lumbar support. I've been wanting an aeron for years now, and I sit in a damn office chair for 40+ hours a week. Spend yer money where you spend yer time right?
