November 6, 20214 yr comment_868539 Glad you make it through the day Al given all the calamity. Here’s to clear sailing for the future. Report
November 6, 20214 yr comment_868546 That was a serious run of freaky bad luck. Hopefully, it means you should have a nice long run of clear sailing. Report

On a positive note you are all set for beatnik poetry night. Just need to find your beret. I’ve read multiple times about the Incra cause of Saw Stops to trigger. Clamp rack looks great! I'm looking for my beret right now. But I already looked up the Incra-Sawstop Dilemma, so thanks for pointing that out. Report
November 6, 20214 yr comment_868558 Sorry for the rough run of luck, Al, but wanted to let you know that I haven't had a biscuit in weeks; was trying to do my part to keep you safe. Seems like it wasn't enough... G'luck with the beret hunt. Report
November 6, 20214 yr comment_868561 Beret's? Gun Jesus models a few so you don't have to. What do we think? Report
November 7, 20214 yr comment_868661 Finally got all the stupid rods cut and painted so I can start putting the frame together for the dog crate. Hoping to have time tomorrow in the last of the warming weather to get it all nailed together and try to spray on some stain and poly. Report
November 8, 20214 yr Author comment_868667 I guess I'll just have to hope that Jeff hasn't made us an accessory to some type of dungeon he's actually building. Checking his area for missing persons now. Report
November 8, 20214 yr comment_868668 While they are some serious bars, I laid them out horizontally and used metallic sparkle paint to make it appear less jail-like. Report
November 8, 20214 yr Author comment_868685 There's still enough room between those bars for someone to grab your curious poodle, and threaten to snap it's neck unless you release them. "It puts the lotion in the basket". Report
November 8, 20214 yr comment_868698 Also, my steel wool/vinegar stain is coming along nicely, just trying to decide if I spray on Poly after the stain, or if I have to let it cure for some time to get to final color? I am quickly running out of staining temps, maybe 2 days, so I was hoping to spray and seal all today. Any of the wood gurus have experience with vinegar sticks? Report
November 8, 20214 yr Author comment_868701 Yes. The vinegar takes much longer to dry than alcohol based stains. It won't be dry enough to spray today. At least not without the help of a heater/fan. Report
November 8, 20214 yr comment_868704 Well, first coat turned out much different than I expected from the test boards I did. Way too barn wood for me. Report
November 8, 20214 yr comment_868706 Looks how I'd expect a first coat to look. You should let it dry, sand it, and do it again. That will knock down the raised grain and help fill in the pores to even the color. Then sand it again. Report
November 8, 20214 yr Author comment_868709 I agree with Doug. Looks great for the first coat. You may even make the cover of DUNGEON MONTHLY Report
November 8, 20214 yr comment_868711 Starting to finally appear gray, but alas I am out of sunlight and probably temp levels for proper finishing. Need to come up with a new plan. Report
November 8, 20214 yr comment_868713 I changed the top piece now from thick cedar slab with walnut to a 14” 4/4 Purple Heart slab with walnut. Going to tie it together with the entry cabinet which will have all walnut with a walnut slab split in half by a thin Purple Heart stick on top. No idea when I will be able to actually apply some finish to the top as the warmest day for the foreseeable future is tomorrow at 54. Report

November 9, 20214 yr comment_868762 Ennui is three syllables? The good news is that the beard was not lost in vain because the atmospheric river flowed right through the drains we cleaned without backup. Report
November 9, 20214 yr comment_868763 Cutting it to the wire so for now this is going to be an ultra-cool open top dog crate. Frisco has had 3 seizures in the last 24 hours so it has been way too hard to get anything done these days. I think I need to stick to much smaller projects as I just cannot find the room to work on these large ones. Report
