  • Same as every gay bar I've ever entered.

  • We lost power for about 12 hours which is nothing, all things considered, and we've got the generator/transfer-switch so it was really only out for 4 hours because I didn't feel like setting it all up

  • Side benefit of all the late snow, the ability to snowshoe with the kids.  Got andrew out for a little walk in the woods this afternoon.

It won't be above freezing until Saturday. Check out the forecast for the day Thursday - Mix of sun and clouds. Highs in the upper teens and lows -4 to 0F.

Very bitter week for NC.

Stay safe NE 'casers.

As always, Seattle has the exact opposite weather.

DC is in shutdown mode which is a really PITA because we are supposed to meet with movers to get quotes and get more work done at our new house. Hopefully the guys can still finish up this week.

I sometimes wish for a bit of snow in our winters here in Southern California, but when I look at what some of you have to go through, I just keep my wishes to myself.

Oh and Dusty, that picture made me laugh, but then I remembered this:

With ~40 degree weather and rain forecasted for Sunday morning, I need to get more snow off of my roof.

Dropped to the 20/30s this morning in South Florida. Heard this couple talking outside the breezeway as I was walking to class..."why don't all these scientists look at the fucking thermometers...global warming is just another way for them to control us and make us buy shit we don't need."

Really hope the pair aren't in my college.

It's so cold out, that my apartment complex management asked us all to leave our faucets on 'drip' so that the pipes don't freeze and burst.  Sad part is, it makes sense, because if they do have to fix the burst pipes, you know they're going to raise our rent, so we're going to pay for it either way.

Even a dusting can be a PITA. Just landed back in England and have been sitting on the taxiway for an hour now after a brief, apparently unexpected, flurry left every single departing aircraft at Gatwick with just enough visible snow on the wings to require deicing. We are number three in line for 777 stands as they do start to open up -- so I reckon it'll be a good while yet. Poop.

Cleared off as much snow off my roof as I can short of going up on it with a shovel.  In the process, broke my already-repaired-with-duct-tape snow rake yet again, this time beyond repair.

Drove around trying to find some heat cable without success. Spent an hour or two outside to try and clear our stupid downspout and get a freeze proof tap to flow. Both were failures.

We are scheduled to move on the 2nd/3rd I hope this cold snap has broken by then but the long term forecast is not looking good.

Edit: Turns out that the pipe needed a few minutes for the heat to make it to the frozen part and I came back downstairs to hear it pouring water out (it is one of those 1/4 turn ones and I couldn't remember which way was off). Anyway that appears to now be working.

Also the weather prediction 10 days out looks pretty good for the move. :)
