I see Todd has started carrying Vivid speakers. The big ones get pretty spendy but I gotta say that $3390 for the V1s is a great deal on the best desktop speakers I've yet had the pleasure of hearing. Put them on stands in free air and they could easily pummel a medium-sized room into submission, too.

That's per speaker. Still pretty spendy.

  • Turns out the damage was a bit more severe than a bad cable. They could still be repaired for less than the cost of a new pair, but not enough less that it seemed worth it. So new Etys are on the way.

  • That's because you're supposed to put them in your ears!

  • So the LCD3 Zebrawood showed back up tonight and I think I just bought a pair. Rob, you get the LCD5 and we'll compare and see if they're worth it, kay?

Yeesh, I didn't realize it was per speaker....!  Indeed, too spendy for me.

I've heard the (I think it's the right model) B1's at Fidelis in NH....VERY nice speakers.  I envy Stretch with his desktops......

Dang, bad timing.  I have had my PB12 (the older down firing one) for a bunch of years now and it has served me well.  The fun I could have with an Ultra.  Drool.

Whenever your funds permit, SVS makes a great product, although the departure of that ported box sku does make a bit of a hole in their lineup considering getting a 12 inch sub is now 200 bucks more than before.  More amp headroom, but still...

I already have the cheap SVS, but that's for my cheap system, I wanted the nicer SVS (the SB12) for my nicer system, and I probably will eventually get a Gallo Strada/SVS Ultra system, I'm just holding off.

I sure hope they replace it with something.  PB13/SB13?

If you had to pick one, which would it be.  It looks like the Sansaire is significantly less money but available for pre-order as the first batch is sold out.  I can wait, so if the two are considered equal, I would go with the one which is more than $200 less.  Thanks.

aren't both sansaire and anova $199?

D'oh!

I got mine direct from Vivid in South Africa (they were a show demo set I think) for R25,000 ($2300) the pair. And they refinished them in my choice of color for free. That's looking like a pretty good deal now.

^ Damnit.  I got all excited but Amazon was still cheaper for what I wanted, even with the discount.

Oh, that's right.  The better sale is when B&N puts them on sale (IIRC), I had forgotten that when I posted, and didn't bother double-checking, since I'm not getting anything.  Sorry about that.

^thanks Ric. Hadn't seen that posted on NPR yet.

I had one of those, bought (of course!) on a whim.  Nice little units, I got mine at a $499 special as well.  Well worth it at that price....if you can use it.......
