October 28, 201213 yr Anxilus has a new mod for it, too. Purrins measurements show it as pretty damned effective. I can't wait to try it. . WANT.....
October 28, 201213 yr I got rid of my LCD-2 r1 for an r2 - I'm hoping to get to spend time with them tomorrow. I've got the early r2 cups from before they started to look more like LCD-3, but with the newest ear pads that everyone was saying sound better.
October 28, 201213 yr Sorry about that, that was my evil twin brother Syrgir!!. Good thing you don't hail from the misty isles and were called Orange - the you'd have nobody to blame it on......

Let me know how they sound; I have a pair of r1s myself and was thinking of doing the same thing. I just picked up the 3s but I think they're the veiled version and I'm trying to work it out with the vendor, but so far I don't think they're worth the increased cost.

The pads feel like they are made from a very soft and thin black leather, and the pads are thicker or fuller than my r1 pads were with a much softer and more compressible padding. It's not the brown pads like on the LCD-3 at RMAF.
December 30, 201213 yr This r.2, r.1 etc talk is quite confusing since they made so many changes to the LCD-2 that it should be at least r.10 by now. The bass-vegan LCD-1 is a good alternative to the meaty LCD-2. Recycled headset and all, If I could have the LCD-2 bass with the rest of the LCD-1 sound, and the much more comfortable and less fragile and less expensive-looking headset, I'd take it.
March 14, 201313 yr Bought one from justin and now I'm wondering what sub 1k amp works better with these. Right now I'm looking at Burson soloist or Schiit Mjornl, any one heard them ?

If you didn't want to build a dynalo/mid (the GS-1 was great with the LCD-2 imo), I bet you the Apex Arete would sound pretty damn awesome. Edited March 14, 201313 yr by shellylh
March 14, 201313 yr I am in the same boat. I am currently using the "Claymore." It is some tube monster hybrid that Ari created. I tend to lean towards SS though. TTVJ has one $750.
March 14, 201313 yr Dynalo would be perfect and if you can't find one of Justin's amps then there is always the Sheer Audio version. Kevin had one of those and he approved... get the Schiit Birgir
March 14, 201313 yr Thanks for that info. So the $450 Sheer Audio deal is the Gilmore Lite with an internal power supply?
March 14, 201313 yr It uses the same circuit as any of the Dynalo amps so yeah. It's more like the GS-1 and older amp Justin made (V2 etc.) though.
March 14, 201313 yr Thanks so much. I have been debating on several SS amps. I appreciate the information.
March 18, 201313 yr i was not told that this was confidential, so: Effective immediately the price of *rosewood* Audeze LCD-2 will increase from $995 to $1,145 USD.
March 19, 201313 yr ^ yay! Btw, is there any straight aftermarket headband ? For us small heads the bumps were really a bad idea since there's pretty much only one pressure point making the head sore.. Edited March 19, 201313 yr by Spychedelic Whale
