Still got your receipt?

Not really worth driving over there for $4; I'd probably be spending just as much in gas.

My first negroni. First reaction: dang, that's bitter. Second reaction: dang, that's good.

I think that was my first reaction too. :)

I also had a Negroni tonight - at the movie theater watching Tree of Life. I love movie theaters with full bars. :)

Afterwards I mixed up some drinks for myself and hubby.

For hubby: Mai Tai

2 oz Clement Rhum Agricole

1/2 oz Clement Creole Shrubb

1/4 oz Monin Almond Syrup

1/4 oz simple syrup

3/4 lime

This was quite tasty but not as tasty as the following!

For me: Bonal and Rye

Thanks for the suggestion Jim (maybe via Al?)! I really need to try this with Sazerac 18. Very nice!

2 oz Sazerac Rye

1 oz Bonal

1/2 oz Cointreau

2 dashes of Peychaud's bitters

1 dash of Angostura bitters

Aberlour 12

EDIT: I remember this being discussed before but I had no luck finding it via search. Does anybody have any suggestions for a kind of "standard" set of liquors and liqueurs to have stocked to make most common cocktails?

Use it on your less discriminating friends. :)

Have not seen that order come up in a while -- nicely done

I'm no help - mine is all whisky :)

i won't even have a hangover in the morning, which is kinda lame.

hehe... tru that

Fentiman's Curiosity Cola

I was surprised to find that it had a very small amount of alcohol in it (less that 0.5%). I suppose this is due to the fermented herbs. I think it is pretty awesome. Reminds me of cola with a bitters.

It makes an awesome Cuba Libre. Just sayin'.

That is what I was thinking (well possibly just a rum and cola without the lime). The real question is which rum? :)

Ron Zacapa worked well for me. Have a lime in reserve, it worked well.

We are having our second Wiess beer in honor of Karen's grandmother who died last night in Munich at the age of 93. Cheers Frau Edith Werner, to you and an amazing life.

Going for the second glass of this

I have a weakness for limoncello. This one is among the best I know. Sweet enough, bitter enough, alcoholic enough

Rum & Cola + Cuba Libra

Tried both drinks with the Fentimans Curiosity Cola (2:1 ratio cola to rum) and Ron Zacapa rum. They were both awesome but I think I prefer the sweeter Rum & Cola. Maybe next time I will use an 1/8 of a lime instead of a 1/4 of a lime.

Cheers to Karen's grandmother.

My preference with cocktails is almost always towards the less sweet. Looks tasty.

2008 Kosta Browne Sonoma Coast Pinot.

Very nice, tastes like silk from caterpillars fed an exclusive diet of Pinot Noir grapes.

Mix a little Fernet with some of that Cola :)

I do have plenty of Fernet left. :)

mix some ferret with the cola.

That's one item that at least I can buy here in Austin, and in fact I have a Pet Smart right up the road!

I decided on an inverted Manhattan, to show off the vermouth.
