Hello I am interested to see if any of you think that there are limits to your resolution. That is, your ability to determine if one thing is better than another when you very well know it should be?

  4. Hey everyone, For those who don't know, Kristen (kids' mom) has worked at Seattle Humane since it opened its new facility about 2 years ago. They've been largely closed to the public and have had most of their animals in foster care during COVID, but their situation is starting to change and they're now able to take in some more surgeries/surrenders and start helping animals and families in this area again. I've gotten to hear some of the amazing work they've been able to accomplish with keeping/placing/helping out, and I'm pretty happy to be a part of it. We've fostered multiple special needs dogs, and even adopted a mostly-deaf and mostly-blind miniature poodle we fe…

  7. The O.E.D. is a historical dictionary, providing citations meant to show the evolution of every word, beginning with the earliest known usage. So a key task, and a popular sport for thousands of volunteer word aficionados, is antedating: finding earlier citations than those already known. This used to be painstakingly slow and chancy. When Paton started in new words, she found herself struggling with headcase. She had current citations, but she says she felt sure it must be older, and books were of little use. She wandered around the office muttering headcase, headcase, headcase... See here. [NYTimes]

Saturday was one of those days. Listened to music on different systems from 10:00 til 7:00. Started out at the Zu Audio demo here ATL. Got to Here the new essence, definition and a prototype they are putting out shortly. The Defenition was a very good speaker, (they all were really) Listened to them with Pass XA30.5 and pass new preamp. Also with a 2.5 watt tube monos, and the Peachtree Nove. (also used as DAC w/laptop). Other source was an Esoteric, I think he said XA-10?? I prefered the Nova as source. Two things that really impressed were the package deals Zu is offering. They are offereng The Essence, Peachtree Nova, and all cables (he said around $1K worth of ther…

Recently got a Fitbit Flex from Julie and it has been alarming as to how sedentary my lifestyle had become. Was barely doing 1500 steps most of which came from walking to and from the library. Anyhow, if anyone else has a fitness tracker and wants to do challenges feel free to add me on the fitbit website - [email protected]. Also, just found a great website, www.matchup.io which syncs data from various trackers from different companies so people with different trackers can still do challenges together. The website also has challenges that you can do with other people on the internet - I just signed up for this one - https://matchup.io/group/4746/yellowstone-park-…

Hey, I loggedd into the pictorial galleries and had the intention of uploading a couple of shots of an old school RS1 that I had promised a while back. Well dummy me, could not figure out how to upload them. I couldn't find any type of "upload pics" option. Did I just missed or it is not a general option to upload pics? Thanks

I couldn't find a thread to post this to, so here's a new thread. So UPS failed to deliver a package yesterday, just before the long Easter weekend - so now I won't get it until Tuesday next week. Bastards. I thought I'd sign up for real time tracking. I'm taken to a page to set up to get this, and find a tick box that says "I confirm that I've been given enough time to read and understand the UPS Technology Agreement" So I thought I'd click the download button to have a look at it. 96 pages. Doing a word count, it is 58,887 words long Which is almost exactly twice the length of the longest Shakespeare play (Hamlet)! That has to be the outer edge of ri…

I'm going to be up in Nashville tomorrow for a couple nights and was wondering if anyone else if going to be around (CMA Awards are on Wed.)? Any suggestions on things to see/do? Looking for a nice place to eat downtown on Wednesday then maybe head down to Tootsies. Hoping Willies will be there.

Debbie and I are in the process of looking for a Siamese cat or kitten. I figured I'd throw it out the HC crew to see if anyone has a connection or suggestions. In my previous relationship I owned cats for over twenty years so I am familiar. I've always wanted a Siamese, so now seems the time. Let us know.

  20. I would love to go to this but I really have no clue how to get there and back to/from NJ without driving (especially so late at night). Anyone have any idea? They don't seem to have a website or anything, it's really aggravating. I figure the train/subway would be my best bet, but I don't really know Philly.

I'd like to buy this t-shirt from the UK Comic Relief charity, but unfortunately for me they don't ship outside the UK. If someone in the UK could help me -- I would really appreciate it and, of course, cover the cost of shipping and the t-shirt.
