Taking Julie to the French Quarter for our third year anniversary (Aug 12th). Can't believe she has tolerated me for three years now! We get in to New Orleans at 7:25pm on Aug 8th and fly out at 4pm on Aug 12th. Already have tickets for the WW 2 Museum. Any suggestions from those in the area or have visited the region in the past? Neither of us drink so the suggestions need not revolve around bars unless of course they serve good food/have good music. I don't do well with loud music in closed off places so suggestions for open areas would be great. Also, looking for suggestions for non touristy food places that don't cost an arm/leg. Something the locals would enjoy. The …

GROUP METEOR SHOWER WATCHING! 1:40AM Eastern Standard Time Post pictures and/or impressions here. That means people with large fast digital slr's capable of large dynamic range. Like you nate. Carbon Fiber tripods recommended. Since this event also coincides with GIN HOUR (1AM EST), I would like to think of this as an evening party. So I made a second batch of Peter's Purple Chicken, only this time I used a white zinfandel (Frey), almost a rose'. I tried to make a rue with the leftover wine (+ flour + butter), but it turned out a little tart. What can I add to combat the tartness, any recommendations?

Boy oh boy, what a skin this is. It's dark but way cool. I am useing Helios_Multi. And beyond that even, once it is setup you can go to the top of it and change the color highlights, boarders ect. I am in the Red Gray and Black mode. The gray block on the end is really a chrome like silver blue. I will do that next. Yellow was a chrome like gold and cool. The red I am useing is a deep red which looks like gloss paint clear coated.

It always seems to happen when I'm right in the middle of writing a long PM or post, or when some Google search that I really want to see links there. I mean seriously, with all the advertising and donations, they should have nice servers, right? </rant>

  25. Last week there was a small-plane crash in East Palo Alto (SF Bay Area), killing three Tesla Motors employees and knocking out power to a chunk of Silicon Valley for much of the day. (Amazingly nobody on the ground was killed despite the plane striking a home child day-care facility.) East Palo Alto contains some dodgy areas, and is outfitted with the ShotSpotter gunfire detection system. It turns out the crash triggered ShotSpotter, which is designed to log and triangulate on loud, sharp noises, and to log the sounds preceding and following them. NTSB expects these data to be useful in reconstructing the events around the crash. Palo Alto Online : ShotSpotter …
