Look at China's olympic brochure (picture on the left or top).. .. The most popular anime in japan recently.. is Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (pictured here on the right or bot) It's such a huge icon that anyone who slightly knows about anime (no I'm not talking about Americanized anime, the real type) should recognize it. Recognize anything? LOL.. China and Japan has a long history of hostility towards each other.. (don't quote me on this, many ppl have said it) and I find it hilarious that they're borrowing Haruhi as an icon for the olympics.. Its such an obvious ripoff.. and this random Japanese guy even commented "中国にもセーラー服が存在する??" which roughly translates into …

I'm planning on receiving a package from overseas. I've received packages from Europe in the past, and never been charged anything (UPS/EMS just drops it off). But I want to be certain as it's a high dollar item and will be insured (thus having its real value on the package). I thought I'd ask here before I called US Customs. Pretty sure this doesn't mean anything but we have no state sales tax. Thanks guys.

I accidentally ran into this while surfing websites for threaded rods to build my flexy: The H.P. Friedrichs (AC7ZL) Homepage Look at the photo galleries linked at the bottom of that site, some very interesting-looking material there (not necessarily hi-fi, but nonetheless intriguing!). I might look into this sometime in the near-future.

I don't know if he's a member here, or whether anyone else has shared this, but I really like the "New Posts" search he's created that is designed to search just for gear that is for sale. It pulls in all Buy/Sell/Trade subforums. Thought it might be useful for others as well. Thread: How to exclude forums from "New Posts" - Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio Link referred to above: Head-Fi: Covering Headphones, Earphones and Portable Audio ^ This is the link toward the bottom of his opening post. As he mentions, it would need to be updated periodically to exclude any new non-FS forums that may be added from time to time. I've added it…

For those who lived in the Chicagoland area in the 1980s or knew the music/club scene there, I have a question. In 1982, my brother was in business school at Northwestern and my family went to visit him that summer. Using his ID, I went with him and another older brother to see a young band named Survivor, with a month or so of the Rocky 3 release date. They played at a place in DesPlaines according to my brother, and it was a redneck bar or hall with hay bales around the perimeter for seating. Does that place sound familiar to anyone? Bonus question: We also saw 1910 Fruitgum Company at a club in Chicago on that same trip. Anybody know where that might have been? N…

I've decided after reading the "i guess i listen really loud" thread that I'd temporarily donate my sound level meter to who ever wants to use it. That way anyone that wants to determine safe listening levels can do just that. You won't have to worry any more if you're destroying your hearing. Here is what I propose. I'll ship it to the the first person that wants it. After they're done they'll ship it to the next person on the list, so on and so forth until it gets shipped back to me in the end. This is presuming that anybody is interested.
