Since Head-Case has of late begun its own DIY cable gallery, I'd like to discuss what I think is appropriate for such a gallery. Given that the Head-Fi DIY cable gallery has been used for commercial promotion by certain members (see the Ruh Roh thread), it would be nice if we could avoid that fate here. For example, posting glamour shots of cables for the purposes of attracting offers to buy is in my opinion not right. The DIY forum exists to help people build components which they could otherwise buy and promote the hobby of doing the same. At the same time, people should be encouraged to go into business if they're interested, since doing so fosters competition and ther…

TRUE STORY (HAPPENED LAST WEEK'S FRIDAY AT WORK). : "Alright guys, see ya around, and enjoy your lunch!" I picked up after myself, heading out the door with my carry-on lunch bag. My colleagues waved good-byes. As I opened the door, I saw her figure a few feet in front of me: Christina was walking down the hall. Christina is an unmistakable young little beauty. She is one of those women you simply just look at and do not want to touch in fear that when you do, she will forever vanish in a puff of smoke, leaving you wondering why the gods played such cruel jokes on us mortals. But this was no vision: there she was, walking down the corridor towards her cubicle.…

Yeah that's right, I'm raffling it off! If you're wondering, here's Jahn's original description: The Raffle: So here's how it will work, each ticket will cost 25 dollars, with a maximum of 5 tickets per person. Every dollar above 700 (which almost covers my total costs of the amp), will be donated to The Darfur Advocacy Fund to help stop the horrible genocide happening in Darfur. Send me a pm with your paypal address, how many tickets you are buying, and the total cost (don't bother with the Paypal fee), and when I reply, send your payment to the.monies AT gmail.com (replace the "AT" with @, duh) with your head-case name, and number of tickets purchased. …

I'm going there this fall for U of C's MA program, and I'm just wondering if anyone here knows anything about the neighborhood, like where it's good to eat/drink, which areas to avoid. Really, any knowledge is appreciated.

While looking for something to read I happened upon a review of Mike Resnick's book Birthright: The Book of Man (1982). I don't know how this slipped under my radar. I suppose I was either under the water (On a Submarine), or in a drunken haze. In either case I'm searching for a copy to borrow. So does anyone have this book? And I suppose more importantly, is anyone willing to lend it to me? Purtty Please.

Instead of keeping the Flip Ultra after finding out it doesnt take external memory or take pics, I decided to get a cheap point and shoot instead. I'm looking for one under $150 but hopefully closer to $100. I've been looking on Budget Camera Group Test (Q4 2008) Review: 1. Introduction: Digital Photography Review and it seems that the Panasonic Lumix LZ8 is a good one. If anyone else has any other recommendations, I'm open to anything.

Taking Julie to the French Quarter for our third year anniversary (Aug 12th). Can't believe she has tolerated me for three years now! We get in to New Orleans at 7:25pm on Aug 8th and fly out at 4pm on Aug 12th. Already have tickets for the WW 2 Museum. Any suggestions from those in the area or have visited the region in the past? Neither of us drink so the suggestions need not revolve around bars unless of course they serve good food/have good music. I don't do well with loud music in closed off places so suggestions for open areas would be great. Also, looking for suggestions for non touristy food places that don't cost an arm/leg. Something the locals would enjoy. The …
