Headphones

What's considered a good price for these? I've seen them going for upwards of $300 and I've found some for about $150. Is that a decent price?

Hi so i am making my own headphones, and i recently bought a 2.1 stereo surround sound amplifier. It has outputs for left, right and sub. My dilemma is this: should i try to do bridged mono to connect the sub output to the right output, and then seperately with the left outputs(and if so how) or should i split the sub and put two speakers in each side(and if so what is a good source for drivers. Probably a question asked many times, but I'll ask it again. My HD650 is toast. I need a new pair of dynamics. And I'm far too profligate for $350 phones. What has a decent chance of being released that doesn't sound like ass (even if you owned it, useless meet impressions notwithstanding)?

I just snagged myself an Electret combo of Sennheiser Unipolar 2002 / HER 2000. They sound pretty good, but sadly they are imbalanced (left needs about one third boost...). I took the headphones apart, but could not find any problem, but I wonder about the control box. Does anyone have any technical information on the control box HER2000? Or does anyone know if the speakers can be run any other way, without the control box or with an adaptor to a Stax amp / energiser?

Hi all! I wish to gift a headphone to my brother. He is very much fond of listening to music and play a lot of games. So I’m looking for a headphone that do great in both and price less than $300. I searched for the best and pretty bass heavy headphones under $200. I narrowed down my search to: Denon AH-D1100 and D2000(I have somewhere to buy it for $200) Ultrasone 580 and 780 V-Moda Crossfades LP I want to know which one is best for: DnB Dubstep Techno Rock/Metal Rap I want a bass close to overpowering but not overpowering. A nice soundstage is nice too. I also need an amp and DAC or amp alone for less than $120,recommendations? It has to include a bass boost(the MoaR the better.)

I know some people are going to want to burn me at the stake for this , but I have come to the conclusion that I really, really like the sound signature of the ATH-ES7. I have seen them described as having snarly mids, closed phone honk, and artificial unnatural sounding mids , and I have really, REALLY tried to NOT like them, but it's useless, I just can't help really enjoying them. Need suggestions for new headphones to look into with the following criteria. - Under $80 - Decent sound - Decent construction, ie. able to take some in bag abuse - Closed design - Not insanely large I'm a big fan of Grado's and use them at home, but the open design doesnt work well in a loud train. My name is Jesse Milstead of Lackey high school and my engineering team and I are desiging/creating a tracesable arrow using both a knock that lights up and a very small speaker. The speaker part is what i need your help with, we need a speaker 3mm or smaller and it doesnt matter how long it is. I'm looking for a pair of high-quality headphones to mix/monitor on for recording purposes. The HD650's have long been recommended for this purpose (despite being less neutral than the HD600), and as I keep hearing that the LCD-2's share a somewhat similar sound signature - I'm wondering if they would be a good choice in my situation. I am aware that some engineers use the LCD-2's for this purpose, but I've heard comparatively little information about them when used for monitoring. Hi! I'm a Sennheiser fan and enjoying my HD 579 on my Dragonfly Red but would like to upgrade. I'm having difficulties choosing between the HD 660 S and HD 700 which are both available at around the same price. Any recommendations?

I've searched both forums for decent information in that regard and got nothing. Can someone comment on their extension of the low range, in particular how rolled off they are at 30 and 20 hz? How much improvement is there over MS-1? (I have an MS-1 here).

a headphone that handles brutal, percussive death metal with ease, in addition to not sounding cramped whilst playing symphonies. it sucks that two of my favorite types of music are totally diametrically opposed, from a sonic standpoint. the headphone needs to: - handle pounding double-bass, extremely distorted electric guitar, guttural vocals & thick, accented basslines.. lots of bass impact without getting muddy - not be bright and sibilant on poorly recorded black metal with lots of tape hiss - have a decently sized soundstage to handle large-ensemble symphonies and other types of classical music: such as beethoven, ives, schumann, wagner, gorecki, et cetera..…

Anyone balance their Edition 9s and if so any comments on the change from SE? My balanced experience is pretty limited to the Senn line where there is a decent change.

I got a question (or a few...). Would buying a pair of SR60s be a good way to see if I liked the Grado 'sound' so to speak? Also, would it be a good way to tell if Grado headphones were comfortable for me or not? Or are all the lines of Grado cans different?

So I've had these headphones for a bit and have used them with my laptop for a while, and I notice that in quiet songs especially there'll be crackles and static noises far too often for me to like. I use these while connected to my phone, however, and I have no static issues at all. My previous headphones attached to the laptop didn't have any issues either.
