Hi guys ! As you may know, I've always wanted a pair of HP2 but never got around to purchase them. I got my SR100 with HP1000 drivers and I'm wondering if I should sell them to fund a HP2 or just build a ~$1500 rig around my SR100 and wait till I have even more money to buy the HP2 without selling the SR100, I have always kept only the best headphone and sold the worst but in this case, it's harder to sell such a nice rare piece of gear that is the SR100. Any thoughts ?!

I just got these in today after I got a good deal on eBay. I'm really surprised by how good these sound. It was hard to find information on these, but it seems they were released a few years ago (in 2003/2004). This is the japanese info page: http://www.audio-technica.co.jp/products/hp/pc/atc-ha4usb.html I was just wondering if anyone else had come across these in their audio journey? If I can make the NE mini-meet, I'd be happy to bring em along.

http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/trurl_pagecontent?lp=ja_en&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.geocities.jp%2Fmister_terch%2FCREATIVEAurvanaLive.html This was one of the first "main" reviews of the AURVN-LV. Here's his other reviews. Third column is how much he likes the sound, out of 5. http://www.geocities.jp/mister_terch/MemoMain.html Then this other guy goes and gives it another 4/5. http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/trurl_pagecontent?lp=ja_en&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.geocities.jp%2Fryumatsuba%2Fhp-aurvn-lv.html Even given listener bias, I think it's pretty clear this is a nice contender in the $100ish closed category, at least worth a good listen. Hello everyone! I am a product designer from the uk and I'm designing a pair of headphones for my final project (at Uni). I'm aiming them at the female youth-late twenties market but I want them to sound good too. So far I've been trying to research design on headphones but am not finding an awful lot. Does anyone know about the insides much? lol is it a case of just the speaker being inside the headphone cup? I'm looking at 40mm Neodymium speakers but I can't find any other higher end alternatives. They seem decent but at only $USD0.20 I'd like to put something better in. The other aspect I'm looking at is sales. Could anyone point me in the right direction here? For…

So I've been thinking of getting RS-1 (again) and I'd love to grab a vintage pair, but I also know the chance of that happening is close to nil. With that in mind, has anyone heard the new button-less RS-1? I'm just curious if there are any differences in the sound with the re-design.

I know some people are going to want to burn me at the stake for this , but I have come to the conclusion that I really, really like the sound signature of the ATH-ES7. I have seen them described as having snarly mids, closed phone honk, and artificial unnatural sounding mids , and I have really, REALLY tried to NOT like them, but it's useless, I just can't help really enjoying them. In fact I am enjoying them so much I have been wondering if there is a full size circumaural headphone that has a similar sound signature, especially when it comes to the mids, though I must say I also like the way the highs, mids and lows are balanced on the ES7. The reason for this is t…

I've come to a crossroads, when I was somewhat forced into downgrading to one phone some of the sting was taken out of it because I thought I'd found the perfect all-rounder for my preferences and budget in the E500's. I'm a bit of a basshead, I like my mids as well and I?m quite sensitive to sibilance so the overall balance of the E500's suits me, I know it's not the perfect phone and there's better on the market but I've always found them to be a satisfying listen that has allowed me to focus on the music not the equipment. Although the E500's satisfy me sonically I recently fell victim to the cable cracking problem, not only that but one of the soft plastic pieces a…

I received a surprise package from Enigma Audio. I ordered three balanced cables some time ago, but I asked them to postpone shipping them to me until I had a balanced amp. Since my balanced amp is caught inside the SinglePower black hole space-time continuum, I forgot about these balanced headphone cables. When I saw the package, I thought that the box was a little big for a couple of ECC83 tubes, which I've been ordering recently. Surprise, surprise, upon opening the box I see the silver-gray anti-static bags with the Enigma Audio sticker. Fortunately, I hadn't forgotten what Enigma Audio was. I'm expecting to forget about what "SinglePower" is in a couple more mo…

i need some cans with good soundstage. other needs: -neutral -natural -detailed, high resolution -transparent/good transients with great sounding drums -prat -would like it to be closed (PL750?) but is not a necessity if it really does limit the soundstage and other needs -price (HD580?) these would be paired with either a CK-K3 amp or SOHA amp with a GE 6680 tube and maybe jisbos (would this be enough?) OR i can try to get into entry level STAX. from what i've heard, the new series(303, 202) are more neutral, more airy/soundstage, but maybe a bit of a high mid emphasis compared to the Lambdas and SR-X/MK3. where would i look for these? i can't read yahoo …

As seen on H-F today: http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/icm_eng.nsf/root/press_releases_07.01.2008 http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/icm_eng.nsf/root/press_releases__07.01.2008 http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/icm_eng.nsf/root/press_releases__07.01.2008_ Seems as if the awaited new top of the line model isn't here yet. I wonder if they'll have a surprise at CES? They seem to be following the IEM trend, so I wonder if they are even interested in a 'new' 650. If the 650 is doing well, my mess with it?

Well, I've had my first exposure to HD650s using push-pull amplification. I have to say, I'm stunned. I *hate* these headphones single ended, for reasons which I will list here. Their bass is loose and overwhelming; there is a very slight grain to their sound, which is more of a characteristic of most dynamic headphones in general to my ears (but not all); the highs are muffled and obscure the detail; the impulse response is slower than a Geo Metro; the tone is far too warm and there seems to be bass even where there shouldn't be. And I have no idea why Sennheiser decided to voice the HD650 this way - rather I can guess (more bass when underdriven), but I have no idea…

I had no idea I was a headphone snob but now I know it's official. While listening to my new MS2i heaphones the most elitist and snobby thoughts about my HD650's kept going though my head. My headphone upgrading path started with a pair of Grado SR80's > Sr325's > HD650's shortly followed by a zu mobius cable now 3 years after my HD650's a wild hair caused my to buy a pair of MS2i's. At first I really liked the grado line, that is, until I first heard a pair of HD600's. After that first listen my grados began to sound unbearable. The highs were just too much for me. A few months later, after I had saved the money, I finally bought a pair of HD650's. I loved …

Still enjoying my Hd580 wired for direct balanced out from XLR out of my miniDAC, find it useful to move around from room to room in the house. Couple of questions: 1. You always see threads about HD580/600/650 used in this manner to good effect - just curious, any other headphones that respond well to running direct XLR out of these type of DACs? 2. Typical full-size HP's terminate in 1/4" plugs - are there such extenders that are female 1/4" (to plug the normal headphone into) to 2 x 3 pin XLR (to connect direct to DAC)? 3. Would like to try balanced on my k271s. It has detachable mini XLR at headphone end. Possible to replace this with balanced cables that go …

First of all, while typing this, I have a strange urge to jump out of the window while stabbing and choking myself at the same time. Why? Because I really think that I am not posting this in the correct sub-forum or even the right website. I browsed through this website and all the forums (the music one looks brilliant) and not only does the front page have a welcoming "I VOMIT ON GOD'S CHILD" on it ( ) but I also couldn`t see any similar request threads. So, yeah, here is my apology in case I am a complete douchebag. So, to the point. I am looking for some good headphones and by headphones I mean big ones like these, not little ones that go into your ears. Also: *…

I'm thinking about picking up a pair of these or MS2i headphones. The problem is that I have never read anything on the MS Pro. Have any of you auditioned them? What were they like?

After getting myself a pair of Jecklin Floats Model I needed to restore these: Before and after: Since I put another cable on them as well (Mogami 2893), I wanted to do a quick and easy test. I pulled the DIY Charlize out of the rack, added the PS1 as the player and hooked the Float up to the speaker out. While I have to say that there was some ground noise, this whole combo really rocks! David Bowie "The Man Who Sold The World" has been described as "Hard-Rock" but I never heard it this hard rocking! Before the Float was all Highs, Bass was there but not really coming to the fore. With the proper pads and the new cable the Float I is one of…

Just bought these on HF. Wondering if anyone has any experience with these. They are the darker wood (obviously) and have no serial #. Also, these look to be pretty glossy..think they were refinished or something?

Lots of folks put HF-1 drivers and 325i drivers into custom turned wood enclosures. Anyone ever do this with RS-1 drivers? Would be expensive, since essentially you would have to purchase an RS-1 just to cut the drivers out of the already-attractive wooden enclosure. But people have done stranger things in this hobby. Anyway, I'm just curious as to how RS-1 drivers would sound in a deeper wooden enclosure.
