For those of us that are jazz fans this is an outstanding set. I've listened to the available mp3 on Laurie Peppers site about 2 dozen times. Here is a link for those that are interested My link The set was pro recorded at Ronnie Scotts during an 80s engagement and the band on the mp3 track is smoking hot. The transfer was done at 24/192 with a 4 cd set from CDbaby.com setting you back $27. There is a vinyl set for over $200 but I'm going to wait until I get the cd set in the mail to see if I need it. I just wish Laurie Pepper would release the 24/192 tracks of this set.

I've really been getting into Multichannel SACD's and DVD-A's lately. Too bad they're all pretty much dead formats. And many of my favorites are out of print, and going for insane prices on fleaBay and such. Captain Hindsight says, you should've bought them when they were first out to begin with! OK my job is done here, goodbye!!! <whoosh> <sigh> -Ed

Stumbled across this today, and thought it was worth sharing. About as good as a YouTube video can sound, that's for sure! Funny bit with Michael Fremer towards the end. If you're ever driving past Salina, KS, you've just GOT to stop in to see Chad and his crew. What a bunch of great guys who have an absolutely boundless love for music and all things connected to it. Once they know you're an audiophile, they'll make the time for you...

I am a big fan of Christian McBride, Steve Gadd, Everette Harp and consider Hajime the owner of East Winds Imports a good friend. I am sadden by the huge devastation that Japan has experienced with the tsunami and thought I would just pass this along. Jazz for Japan.

On Thursday, “sometime between 1:23 and 1:38 p.m. Pacific time,” Mr. Lynch, the celebrated “Twin Peaks” creator and director of films like “Mulholland Drive,” will reintroduce davidlynch.com as a digital music store and “sensory experience.” There will be sound experiments from the past (some unreleased from his film and television projects) and new music. http://tinyurl.com/4j48hkc

Just a heads up,.. There's a 15% discount code (on that other site) for the Rolling Stones hi rez downloads that HD Tracks are selling. I guess I could just paste it here but somehow that doesn't seem right? Whatever,.. all you have to do is visit that site and copy and paste it to the "discount code" box when you're checking out. If you're like me, I'm just grabbing the "Through the Past..." and waiting for "Let it Bleed" and hopefully "Sticky Fingers" latter on. I haven't got anything but the original vinyl of this stuff so don't ask me to do comparisons! If I can't hear a difference without A/Bing it,.. it isn't significant in my book.

just fave finds, not albums necessarily released in 2010. if there's a personal story behind the album, please share. as a former aspiring double bassist, and Beethoven lover, i really love this album recorded by my hometown team. the 3 and 8 make for a wonderful album pairing. and when i want to get my groove on while slinging solder and a late entry i picked up last week... fucking.amazing.album.period.especially.when.drunk.double..period.. Going out on a limb here, has any head-caser heard the 2009 remaster of Tattoo You? I grew up listening to the original, yet all I own is a scratchy early-80s vinyl pressing. There was a time when I'd cheerfully buy any remaster, but the Terrible Age of the Brick Wall has cured me of that forever. I'd much rather track down a halfway decent CD pressing (or needledrop) of the original version than suffer through having all the dynamics crush by a modern rework. Anyone out there heard both? Bueller?
