  1. Last night I went up to Fantasy Studios and listened and watched Mark Willsher show how he and Howard Shore did the sound for the Hobbit trilogy and show some of the tips and tricks of doing music for film. For the most part, it showed us how difficult it is to work with a huge budget film that's constantly changing and always on the edge of going over budget. On the techy end of things, he showed us how easy it was to eat up the 768 tracks in Pro Tools HDX and why the flexibility (that eats up all those tracks) is necessary. We even got a chance to see some scenes that Peter Jackson ended up cutting. What was also very cool, we were in the Fantasy Film Screening room that was just re-done with a 15 (IIRC) channel Meyer Sound system and super comfy seats. Probably the best cinema type bass I'm ever gonna hear/feel! The room doesn't officially open till next month.

  2. Got it cased. Pretty standard. I apologize for the power switch--I couldn't resist.

  3. May I suggest that you fuck off out of here? Pumping your shitty goods in response to 3-10 year old posts is idiotic and should be your last acts here. Cunt.

  4. For existing ER4 owners, I'm not seeing the compelling reason to get a new model, especially at or near retail.

  5. Well I finally finished my custom Balanced Power Conditioner. I'm pleased with the way it turned out. Acme Silver plated Cryo outlets. A little Siltech wire. Now I can't wait to get my equipment back from service. Thanks Kevin.

  6. Spent the day shopping for something resembling 1930s cocktail attire for a charity event tomorrow night. Any of you guys part of the 1930s cocktail set that can remember what you wore?

  8. Nate, if you need portability+gaming but not both at the same time, I think the razer blade stealth + core is where it's at right now.

  13. Kerry, Just wanted to say that your software is awesome. Had been using the soft that was listed way back when the project first surfaced. It has some problems, yours is simply pure pleasure. Have it installed up in my T2 and just loving everything. Reckon the OLED display is real cool and Volume numbers are " purfect". You asked earlier about noise when using the 12v supply. Can't hear a single thing and the smoothness of this Att is Fantastic. Big thanks also to Kevin. I just taped off the 12v feeding the front end where it connects to the Board. Thanks again for all your efforts. Les P.S Just in case anyone wonders i'm using a Nano and the V1 board.

  14. This! I may get a pair of the ER4SR. I wonder if they did anything to quiet down the cord. It's too bad they didn't make them more comfortable. I hate that the ER4 stick so far out of the ears. Ok, here is what EtyDave says about the new cable: "The cable material is different than the older model. It's a bit softer and more supple (*cough* marketing term) than the old cable so it feels nicer in the hand than the old cable. Preliminary feedback has been people feel it's slightly less microphonic. But realistically, the earphone still seals deep in the bony portion of the ear canal, which doesn't help microphonics. As before, using the shirt clip will help, as will wrapping them over the ear (which is slightly easier than before because we modified the angle of the strain relief)."

  15. I'll probably keep my ER4S too since its only $75 minus shipping. I'm going for the SR, I think.

  16. Thanks Haj. I'll likely get the new ones anyway, I really like what I'm reading about them; and I'll keep my older 4P's for a backup. I may wait and see if they go on Amazon soon, I have a gift card credit from Father's Day!

  17. Unfortunately, not much of a deal for out-of-warranty ER4 (especially when you factor in the shipping cost to/from Etymotics). I think I'll wait for the price on ER4SR/XR to come down and just keep my ER4S as a backup.

  19. Odds are that the 15-X Pro will be my next laptop. My Alienware is going on 7 years old, has been rebuilt twice and worst yet, partially overheated during my last gaming activity and smelled "toasty". Hard to blame it for deciding that it's had enough, it's had the best run of any computer I've owned.

  20. Today I discovered that I could run a virtual big screen display using the aptly named BigScreen. This allows me to run Dirt Rally on a virtual 100" curved screen sitting feet away. While not full the full VR experience (which is coming soon) it is pretty incredible. After that I have re-configured the rig to sit in the corner of my media room and used a little used guest room tv for the display until I get into the Oculus. This makes just ducking in for a game easier. More work to be done on the wire management and I need to sell my TrackIR now but overall very pleased. The only negative I can come up with is the least glare on the Oculus is annoying (Vive is supposed to be better due to different fresnel lenses). It's a minor issue in the racing I've done so far though I'm guessing it is be more annoying in a night rally. Edit: ran a night rally stage and while present I think it was basically a non issue for gameplay

  21. I have the HF5's and they are quite nice. Silly level of isolation and perfect for casual music listening. Funny story about them, my regular walks usually take me through the grounds of the presidential residence. This is Iceland so no guards but the presidents chauffeur stopped me a while back for a chat (we know each other enough to say hi). He said "I tried calling for you yesterday but you didn't reply. I thought you were so full of yourself that you didn't want to chat!" I showed him the HF5's and just how much they isolate...
