  1. One week turn around... Not bad Here's the board with 2oz copper. I still need to finalize the BOM and get an order in.

  4. One thing to consider if you have not already is to elevate the resistors and diodes slightly off the board by 3mm or so. It's a practice used by many (myself included) to prevent leakage or arcing due to the high voltage involved in this amp.

  5. Congrats on the successful refurbishment of the HE90. I imagine the collection is quite extensive now especially with the even rarer actually-vintage Stax models. Picked one up quite recently, originally (and exquisitely) built by a fine member from here. If you manage to pick up an Omega again you should try them on the T2. The resolution and bass (really top-to-bottom) performance is seriously impressive, even coming after a BHSE. Truly the very pinnacle of what I have heard and I am very grateful for the contributors and builders of the design.

  6. A fun take on the old staples. She tackles tempi like she spent a month bingeing on Glenn Gould recordings, and it works. This is not your daddy's Four Seasons.

  7. Look what just showed up. I decided to treat myself for my birthday... Sounds brilliant with the HE90 and is pretty much required to use them. Also the build quality is nothing short of stunning. Now I just need to address some imbalance in the HE90's as now that the left driver is up and running properly the right one is a bit too weak by comparison.

  8. Wikia Impressions: @n3rdling's HE90 Clones (out of BHSE): For those of you who might have missed the opportunity to listen to these you need to put it on your must listen to at the next meet he attends. Personally having never listened to the original Orpheus but loving my 007 MK1 out of the Headamp BHSE and hating the Stax 009's I felt at a loss. I mean the 007 MK1 is my favorite headphone I own but at times want something a little more refined that my HD800 SDR isn't doing. Well enter the HE90 clones I have heard these at one other meet I attended and it was out of the Headamp Aristaeus (oh yah the other e-stat amp Justin makes) and with the BHSE I felt like everything I put on was like I was actually being sang to. The instrument separation was perfect with just the right amount of sound stage Tonal balance was just superb Bass I felt was different than what I am used to with the MK1 less thick but more defined. For someone who isn't a fan of the 009 this headphone just hits all the right spots for me. As I had mentioned previously I had heard this at a previous meet and it was the best headphone hands down and again the result was the same. I don't know if Milos will ever release these as a production headphone but after listening again and this time with the BHSE it took all my willpower just not to hand him a wad of cash for his prototype. As someone who doesn't like the 009 I am shocked I fell in love with this headphone but for me it just checks all the right boxes. Would love to hear if anyone else has listened to these before and has comments.

  9. F*ck yeah! Well that was a lot easier than I thought. Something in my lead arrangement for the bypass cap that runs across the plate resistors must have been causing a short for the 18k resistor so the tube was only seeing 1k resistance on pin 1. What in the hell, 3 very long nights down the drain!!!!!

  10. Sunk Cost Fallacy. The thing to do at this point is to use a scope* to follow the signal path. You'll find your break that way. My suspicion would be that soldering thick wire onto the flimsy PCB pulled up a trace somewhere. * if you don't have a scope, run a 60Hz tone through it and test with a DMM on AC.

  11. And don't forget to clean off the flux when you finish stuffing the boards... It's not supposed to be conductive, but not worth experimenting with at high voltage. I use 99% isopropyl, easily available from Amazon. Not are about availability outside the US.

  12. Good advise. I use those wooden coffee stirrers at Starbucks as spacers while soldering the resistors to the boards. When done, pull 'em out. Gives a nice uniform outcome.

  13. I also heard the HE-90 Clone but I found the 009 more to my taste. I don't take that as a knock against the Clone, I think that, based on Spritzer's descriptions of the HE-90 sound I'd have the same response to the HE-90.

  15. The Ether Flow that I shared with Purk last week, is an exceptionally good headphone. Some might even consider it a game changer at it's price/performance level. What you have is a planar magnetic with near stat level speed and decay. The whole purpose of the Flow was to increase the "speed" of the driver. Well, it ended up with some additional benefits as well. Based on my own preferences, Ether Flow is better than hd800 and hd800S even with good EQ applied to both 800 variants. Ether Flow matches the technical prowess of the 800/800s and offers a richer presentation with less restrictive amping requirements. I'm all in on the Flow and have it on order. Just waiting for a tracking number.

  18. Cowboy Junkies, Notes Falling Slow (ly...sic) -- goddamn, I love Cowboy Junkies, especially their slower numbers. Reminds me of the desert and being able to breathe. I could just rewind this to the beginning and...actually, I think I will.

  19. That's a possibility for the next round. The ones from ebay have solder mask on the back. We're going to be dissipating under 1W for each sink and I think it will be ok, but it is a question that will be answered shortly I took a look at the ones that AMB is doing sig78xx/79xx. I'm unclear whether he has mask on the back side. Lots of good data on the forum regarding temperature rise for various power levels / heat sinks.

  21. Indeed! I am clinging to my Verizon unlimited account, and sometimes use it to stream Tidal at meets/shows for days on end. I've used 10GB in a weekend doing just that! [emoji6] T-Mo has unlimited streaming for Tidal/Spotify/Netflix/etc. **BRENT**
