Perfecting Sound Forever by Greg Milner One of the best books I've read recently. Milner strikes an excellent balance between tech-geekery and storytelling as he discusses the history of music recording.2 points

The brisket fairy says salt and pepper only, plus some fanciness with spraying it down every hour while cooking. Helps to develop a nice bark. I usually use brown sugar rubs on ribs.2 points

Thanks. I was finally able to get the OEM strap off (the spring bars were glued to the leather, and some glue had seeped inside the bars) and I currently have it on a grey/black NATO from Clockwork Synergy that I found in my box of watch odds and ends. I transferred the signed Bulova buckle over, to complete the look. I think this is a nice combo, and it's very comfortable. The leather strap was actually very nice, but the sizing wasn't quite right for my wrist. This isn't a watch I would have gotten if I hadn't been able to get it for essentially free, but I actually really rather dig it. Part of that is just because of how different it is from everything else I own.2 points

Problem is, as Biggie says, no one really knows. Stax works in mysterious ways!1 point

There is some variability between the internal reference voltages as well, but 0.1% overall is pretty damb chop good.1 point

Massdrop (not for the impatient...) has a Focal headphone for sale. A less pricey option for those that are into the Focal sound sig I'm estimating. 1000 units available. They do appear to be selling briskly. The amp in the main image may leave some wondering, WTH....LOL https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-focal-elex-headphones?iterableCampaignId=216054&iterableTemplateId=308608&mode=guest_open&referer=TJLFZB&irgwc=1&clickid=wxHzJiU4T1br1XexG5VvOww%3AUkmTap2N018%3A1A0&utm_term=385697&utm_content=VigLink&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=impactradius HS1 point

Chicken fried chicken with spicy gravy, red potatoes, over medium eggs and toast. Pretty tasty. Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk1 point

Guess I should look at the neg regs datasheet. If the pads are all connected together on the board, the solder bridges on those pins won't hurt anything.1 point

Went to put the bike into winter storage and saw this sweet classic w/ sidecar being put in. Had to take a few shots of mine, before luggage and crash bars are added in storage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

So this is not at all what I was expecting: it's a Unisonic with a 14k bezel! It's currently riding on a JB Champion two-tone bracelet, which is rather fitting. I have no idea if my watchmaker can service this, the early electric watches being... quirky. I definitely want to get it up and running. It has an inscription on the back, with my father's name. I'd show a picture of that, but it also has his SSN (a common enough thing at a certain point in time, I think). What an interesting watch for a man in his early 20s to have bought. The unexpectedness makes having it all the more special for me.1 point

I hope Mama Africa does not disappoint such an exalted American palate! If so, it’s probably your fault anyway because of colonialism or imperialism or whatever. So there.1 point

Leaving aside any dubious benefits of this passing, about 80% or so of America doesn't actually want this (iirc). Correct me if I'm wrong, but willfully passing regulation that most of your voter base doesn't want you to pass sounds awfully like governing without the consent of the governed. At this point I consider the FCC a rogue organization operating against the will and well-being of the people, though the same can be said about an awful lot of the US government lately. I'll give our government one thing though, it sure has increased transparency. As in, its mean-spirited, money-grabbing, lobbyist-pleasing motives have never been more transparent. They're setting themselves up for a reckoning... I think. Or I hope?1 point

My maternal grandmother died today, 2 months after her 100th birthday. She was a simple woman, who had a tendency to make complications for the rest of the family. Her death was not unexpected, but it does mark the last of her generation (at least in my family) passing.0 points
