Met Aumkar and listened to the RR1 at CanJam today, two very pleasant experiences. The headphones sounded really nice out of both setups, one a KGSSHV (from birgir I think) and the other a little koss amp (the one that goes with their headphones, Massdrop version). I had a very pleasant listen with the smaller setup being run from an iBasso DAP (maybe DX150). I seriously would have bought that whole little setup on the spot for listening on vacation or the office. It had excellent bass and an extremely musical, engaging sound. I'll probably buy a pair of these when they are for sale. Aumkar is a great guy! Thanks for the overview and good luck.10 points

Went to the place today for that alligator strap and had it fitted there. I like the strap a lot and it’s very well made, although I’m not so keen on the deployant buckle so think I’ll have a buckle I’ve spare fitted locally. While there I asked the guy to use the Rolex spring bars, which meant those end link had to be removed, I’m happy with that though because it looks better without, problem is those Rolex spring bars must be too thick because the strap is catching on the watch and leaving a mark, so tomorrow I’ll see about using thinner spring bars. Here are some photos with one showing the mark.2 points

Damn, dude. Oliver Lieb just put the entirety of his 2014 album Inside Voices up on YouTube: Even in YT quality, this thing is worth a listen if one is remotely interested in minimal, ambient IDM etc. OL is one of the most consistent producers in all things electronic. He's had a stellar track record since his first release in 1989. Mostly he produces dancefloor oriented techno, which managed to be interesting enough that one might want to actually listen to it in a setting outside of the nightclub. 5 years ago he decided he wanted to produce a piece of art that had nothing to do with club culture and boy did he ever.1 point

Well...it’s Russian. So there’s always that risk. Those women are just a front. The big scary thug, though...1 point

In. I've been tied to Chase and Citibank for twenty years now and so far all I get is a spanking each month when the fees hit my account so what's the risk?1 point

First I'm going to agree with Jim on NAD's quality. I've owned lots of their gear over several decades, and it's bullet proof. I also have that same feeling about Parasound. Everything I've owned from them sounds great and just keeps rolling, like an old Subaru.1 point

I couldn’t figure out the last word (my Russian vocabulary is atrocious), so I used Google Translate (it translated in image ! I think it even used the same font), but it says, “Bank, to which you are tied.”1 point

Just finished testing a new version of the battery with the LT1021-7 reference. From what I can measure, it seems quieter on the scope (mostly above 25KHz) than the LED version. It's nice to be able to test without risking the whole amp I'll probably start using the LT1021-7 in the GRHV supply as well since it needs less current to operate. I'm currently feeding it about .94mA with the base of the transistor it connects to pulling about 70uA from that as well.1 point

Porsche announced the new 6-cylinder 718 Cayman GT4 and Spyder (with 6-speed manuals) – this might cause the price of the older 981 GT4 to finally drop a little and some of the more conservative owners might take them out of storage: https://www.evo.co.uk/news/22794/the-porsche-718-spyder-and-718-cayman-gt4-are-finally-here1 point

Here's one of my dream cars, peak Aston Martin (the V12 Vantage V600 with 7-speed dogleg manual) – why are the best cars always the rarest?1 point

The previous post was supposed to be longer, but I'm having some issue posting multiple images from Flickr to HC. Yes, the irony of that statement is not lost on me. The stream at the edge of my property. I spent considerable time framing this shot. 35mm F/2 at F/8, 1/60, ISO200. It's just a bunch of trees. Converted to black & white in Photoshop using a high contrast blue filter, then duotoned. I also tweaked the curves a bit and then cropped it to 5:4 (which has been my favorite aspect ratio for a decade now.) The vignetting is organic, and not done by a PS plugin. It's an artifact of how the EF 50mm F/1.4 USM transmits IR. F/8, 1/100 ISO 160. 17-40L at 17mm, F/7.1, 1/100, ISO50. 17-40L at 19mm, F/6.3, 1/80, ISO50. Moar later.1 point
