Jim, I was going to argue that it's quite possible that it could belong to a married gay couple. Then I noticed the plywood speaker and component plinths. Not possible!
  2. You guys are crazy and certainly not trying to help this poor guy. The obvious answer here is the AKG K1000.
  3. listening to "Standin' in the Rain" so much growing up, probably made me eventually move to Washington... two minute and seven second intro for a 4:19 song -- crazy

Ha. Thanks all for your help. In the end I went with a Magrette Regattare Tiki for a decent price in comparison to the other final choices. New Zealand Post, US Customs, and the local Post Office did everything they could to get it to me by 2024, but it arrived a couple days ago. A little too big, a little too heavy, but uncomplicated.
  5. I never noticed that, I love vocal songs with ~> 50% instrumental. Great album. I listened to The Jungle quite a bit. โ€œAnd they danced!...โ€. Jeff Lynne is a brilliant producer. Me: Hum โ€”first album in over 22 years! Shoegaze heaven. https://humband.bandcamp.com/releases

  15. No Boot Camp on Apple silicon for now: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2020/06/heres-whats-happening-to-boot-camp-amid-the-apple-silicon-transition/ The Verge writes that Microsoft has not given out a Windows 10 ARM license (yet) and virtualization like Fusion or Parallels might take a while: https://www.theverge.com/2020/6/24/21302213/apple-silicon-mac-arm-windows-support-boot-camp We'll have wait to see if this means Apple will offer both CPU options, e.g., iMacs with ARM or Intel processors.
  16. Jim - donโ€™t know if this will help for future integration but I wanted to correct myself, my sub crossover is a little lower than I had stated, currently at ~75hz. Alerion is specโ€™d down to 70hz.
  17. Electric fuel pump. Fortunately I didn't have to drop the tank, but I did have to take out the entire back seat and trunk liner, then work through an access hole that some galaxy brain at GM made about half an inch too small for the pump and locking ring to fit through.

  21. Once again I'm just blown away by what is possible in these flagship gaming titles. The technical mastery, storytelling brilliance, art, design, music and attention to even the smallest of details all comes together to create an experience that just can't be had in other artistic mediums. What a ride The Last of Us 2 was. I came in skeptical that the game could have the impact of its predecessor, but the developers, in my opinion, have delivered a very fitting sequel to the beloved if controversial, original game. The emotional impacts were as compelling as anything I've played. To me, TLOU2 belongs in the conversation with the other prestige titles like Red Dead 2, God of War, Breath of the Wild and Death Stranding. This has been a truly amazing last few years for those of us who love games and are excited by seeing the medium pushed in new directions.

  23. Just discovered it today, myself. Was searching for all versions of โ€œPush the Sky Awayโ€ on Tidal and ran across two covers (in addition to the original and several live versions). Loved it, listened to the rest of the album. Love how they translated โ€œRed Right Handโ€ to a lullaby. The rest didnโ€™t need as much work to make it less rocky. Love how melodic the source material is, their versions really bring that out. Now listening to Endless River because of a certain discussion on Facebook.

  30. Donald Brinegar Singers, Celebration Collection Yes, really. The lead singer of Al1ce shared privately with me that she sings on here, so I gave it a serious listen and it's so peaceful and soothing and perfectly sung I can't help but love it.

  32. I managed to get my kgsshv project done without creating some big mess and spark, and I want to thank KG for his design , Birgir and many member here for their generous contributions. oyaide L/i50 OFC is used as umbilical cords but is not shown here. later on a L/R balance control will be installed. The power and the amplifying section is about the same size so they can be stacked together. The heat sink size is less than ideal and it runs so hot that I can barely touch. My IR thermometer reads 47 oc but I think it is inaccurate due to the shiny appearance of the heatsink. But then I think at least these heat sinks are bigger than those on-board ones so this should not be a problem. Two stax plug are installed becoz I have dozens of them taken apart from stax extension cords. There are some small issues during startup. The power supply board had some sparking on the bias section becoz some paint is off and probably there are some small filament peeled off from the leg of the 1n4007. It needs some epoxy to cover up the arcing spot. There is also something with the amp board. At first there is no sound, balance sits at 700v and two burnt 50k resistor on each board next to the stn9360. It turns out that I installed some mpsa06 instead. Luckily it fires up after replacement. The first second it plays it blows 717 away. Big soundstage , great dynamic and details. Pretty much no complain and is hard to beat except that vocal can be more engaging. Drives omega, es1a and 007 equally well. I think it somehow sounds sweeter than the carbon I built long thime ago.

When on call and doing water sports the smart watch works much better than a cellphone. Also for other things like trials I like it more than putting the phone in an arm band simply because I can look down and see if it's a call I can ignore. The water park and many of the places around the lake also take nfc payments so no wallet needed either. Depending on the activity I am not above double fisting it.

I think that we're nearing the day of an integrated traditional watch with truly essential smart functions. I just need notifications on my wrist, I don't need or want to make calls or take the battery life hit that it brings. I get that there is a market for that, I'm just not it. I know I'm a broken record but until Apple gets me a week of run time without a charger I'm not a buyer. I charge my Garmin so infrequently I hardly think about it. I don't want another daily or every other day charging ritual. If we some how get a bonus this year it'll likely go into upgrading the Fenix as the HR function has started to get flaky and while wearing a chest strap works, it's inconvenient and i'm not doing it all day.

Sometimes you have to learn to love something less expensive... I had the same reaction to a Swatch Royal Blue Rebel (SUOS702) while on vacation. I've learned that sometimes you find something (or someone) perfect and you'll regret not acting for the rest of your life. The relationship was consummated immediately. ๐Ÿ˜
