I signed a lease on a house in San Rafael this afternoon. I'm excited... I've never had my own house before. Since college I've lived in a series of apartments. I still can't quite wrap my head around the fact that I'm not going to be sharing walls with anyone anymore.11 points

They are that, but they are available. DSHA3 and DSHA3F (specifically for Focals, picture below in walnut) are the current models, and Tom and I are very close to releasing the T5 which is effectively a DSHA output stage with tube gain. Indeed, I just received an updated T5 power transformer in the mail today that I soldered in not 10 minutes ago.4 points

RIP Russ! The first records I bought were from the North Beach Tower Records in the summer of 1968 (I was 13 and lived in Georgia). Alices's Resturant and Trout Mask Replica. Three years later I was back there (without my parents this time on a pot fueled trip from New York state). I had a few friends who worked at the Tower in Campbell Ca. It was a great place to hang out and some of those guys were lucky to have a place like that to hang their multi colored, multi pierced hats.2 points

Indeed, gentlemen. I think an LXStudio-based system may be in my future. http://linkwitzlab.com/LXmini/LXstudio.htm2 points

Nothing about that product made sense. Poor aesthetics on the player, smoke, mirrors and snake oil on the sound quality, and yet another file format that no one else adopted.1 point

I doubt it. Weren't they oblique about the resolution of their files? Audiophiles like their numbers.1 point

What can you say about our Nate? He's been with us for quite some time now. But I still remember that young man starting out in life, optimistic about the future... Then a little time went by and young Nate became Papa Nate. And beautiful Lily was brought into the world. Proud Papa Nate... Then a little more time went by and Papa Nate bore a Son, oh so cute little Andrew... And the happy family was formed... There was the inevitable lack of sleep, and the aging process happened, as it does to all of us... But let's all wish Nate a very Happy Birthday, and just hope that he never goes through a drastic change, and starts hanging with a bad crowd... The Happiest of Birthdays to you, Papa Nate!!!1 point

This is what I hate most about what has become of the hobby. Farming out beta testing to initial adopters has gotten way out of hand, and apparently because the adopters are totally willing. It's one thing to have a focus group, but it's another to have paying customers agree or even not agree to becoming de facto beta testers for products that are barely out of proof-of-concept.1 point

One of my favorite M*A*S*H episodes was when he was coaching Radar about Classical music and other things. To this day, when I hear Bach mentioned, I raise my hand similar to the royalty wave, and say "Ah....Bach" Great actor, film, stage and voice.....RIP PS - and fuck cancer.... EDIT: was reminded that the episode I'm remembering was before CEW III joined the cast! Amazing what my mind thinks/remembers, or doesn't remember!1 point
