  1. I think there are enough of us with turntables to warrant a specific vinyl thread. After all it's not the same as streaming digital. Shirley Bassey: Good, Bad but Beautiful

  4. Yup, sure can. I don't speak for anyone other than myself when I say I could not care less about your personal headphone journey. This website does not exist to make you feel good. Members here are free to respond (or not, as is the case here) to your review. You bumping your own thread looking for gratification is not something that I'm forced to tolerate as a moderator here. So either take my friend Todd's advice above and realize that you've basically been treated with kid gloves so far or don't and you'll find you no longer have to worry about it. Last piece of advice - imagine you j

  5. First time poster. Happy to report that this beauty is now on its way to its new home in Melbourne. Happy to find head-case via this purchase. I am relatively new to estats, but not to headphones. I've been mostly avoiding HF over the last few years and mostly posting about audio in a small closed facebook group - happy to find this place which shares my low tolerance of shilling culture. The amp will replace/sideline my current stock SRM-313. I might hang on to it, in case I ever get something with normal bias. In terms of headphones, the KGSSHV will feed my L700 and the Koss/D

  6. it wouldn't take you long to figure it out, Steve, There's a ton of info on the web about most machines. I think the routers are actually easier to approach than the lasers and printers that I've been able to use. Speaking of, I've been working on a printing project too but we'll wait to see if what I printed actually works before celebrating.

  7. An interesting documentary about how Peter Frampton got what was his guitar for 10 years, lost it, to get it back in his hands several decades later

  10. Bought a pair of the Vampire RCAs (ebay) and measured them. I've attached an Eagle library with these in them as well as a board layout using these and Neutrik jacks and NKK switch. I haven't verified any of the board <-> panel spacings yet, but they seem reasonable, with some soldering slop. Change the file extensions from zip to lbr for the library file. con-audio.zip

  15. I recognize many of your memories are from the shows, which were well into syndication by the time i got to them, but for me the Addams Family was the 1991 movie. While I recognize this may be seen as heresy, can you fault me for preferring Anjelica Huston?

  16. I recently picked up its lower grade sibling, nicely restored, from a local dealer and fixer, to add a tape deck to my system. I did buy it more for its looks than its sound... but who can blame me for that?

  21. Relax and chill..... It's usually best to browse a forum when you join, to get a good feel for things. We are WAY more than a headphone site, indeed to the point above that we're NOT really a headphone site at this point. This is an eclectic group of great people that have many interests and personalities. We don't need lessons in forum and hobby lifecycles, coming in here and preaching that will not endear you, especially with the passive-aggressive "You can do whatever you want though" conclusion. If you truly want to find out about headphones, there are other sites that wil

  22. Can't agree more Steve. I chased accuracy and a flat response for many years, only to get very close and realize that I did not enjoy the system much at all. Flavor is just fine if it's the right flavor.

  23. I've been screwing around with the laser lately, mostly trying to figure out how to get the damn thing to cut and engrave. I'd had the engraving part sorted for a while and finally had a break though today with cutting. For the inaugural project I decided to do something that popped into my head while listening to RTJ the other day. It'll end up being a thank-you gift for the friend that introduced them to me back in the spring. Each of those is about 2-1/2" long and the source file was custom designed by me in CAD based off of the cover of RTJ4. It's mirrored 🤦‍♂️ because the alb

  30. This one came to an end this week as I finally got round to turning the amp on and testing it. Busy summer and all that but here is what this should have been in the first place: Old school KGSSHV build only using the input sockets on the back, that swanky gold IEC and the volume control. The rest was all garbage...

  31. ...wait, there is more!! I woke up early so what better than strip this shit down. First off was to remove the transformer and I found this: Notice the wire coming off the IEC and into the end of the fuse holder...and another wire connected to that pad? Yeah... I don't see any evidence that there had ever been any solder on that end of the fuse holder and the insert which holds the fuse is indeed missing. That would explain why, when the PSU blew it left this mark on the chassis At least the IEC input is nice... Gotta have that gold plating.

  35. You wouldn't want that. The Tinesort Consortium will be after you for that one. I think it's a violation of the 1972 Stifle Act to Prevent Distribution of Unauthorised Inset. You know, there's something satisfying about breaking those nibloid moulds but for some reason the fixture waneshafts are always void. I find it's best to apply some regular T.Consortium Verified Vaseline Product to the shafts regularly to prevent them from oxidising into void. You lost me, I thought voiding was a result of dadaist retrodeconstructionism (Or is it autodeconstructionism? I always forget. I
