  1. Actually the older Meridian gear like the 508.24 is very good. It's the newer crap like the G08 that aren't looked upon too highly here.
  2. Except in the case of RSA in my opinion the rather craptacular designs and implementation of them directly lead to the less than stellar sound quality that they have. Ray does have the build quality thing down pat though. With SP most of the concerns up till this SquareWave w/ dac have to do with crappy build quality and poor customer service. While those two factors are certainly annoying as hell they don't directly cause bad sound quality all the time. I suppose if the build quality is so horrible that shit is falling apart then yes certainly sound quality would suffer but for the most part that doesn't seem to be the case.
  3. Simple, the finished products usually sound good and he's one of the few builders willing to do custom work.
  4. Really? I can't recall any previous lengthy outage or data loss that they've had.
  5. looks like they are back up already
  6. From avsforum.com: This is a pretty major outage and losing a weeks worth of posts has to suck. I wish them well getting things back up.

I've been watching quite a bit of Olympics so far, the men's 4x100 relay last night was crazy. It's not everyday you see a world record get destroyed by 4 seconds.
  8. Well I still think having the dac as an option is a good idea but it'd be nice if he used something that's not a piece of shit.
  9. Looks to me like the "dac" is this ripped out of its case and stuffed in the squarewave.
  10. Did Mikhail give you any info on the dac? I think it's a great idea to do the whole amp/dac combo.
  11. Yet another victim for the Speaker Bug
  12. I would take the Cambridge 840c over the da-10 and dac-1.
  13. kelly was awesome but no that's the bitch weasel's bitch weasel.
  14. outside of gear w/ physical moving parts (speakers, headphones) and even there to a large extent burn-in is completely mental in my opinion.
  15. The DA100 Signature looks interesting, and even has an i2s input for the matching transport that's available. Another option might be the PS Audio Digital Link III or if your willing to go used something like this: Meridian 566
  16. Had a great time, listened to hardly anything, just the BHSE which is fantastic btw. Nice to finally meet vicki, mike and a few others and nice to see some familiar faces as well.
  17. Just got in to the hotel a little while ago. Eating a microwave dinner and watching some TV.
  18. As a transport the SB is fantastic but as a full out source, yes it's definitely a bottleneck.

For those of you with Xbox 360's you'll be able play netflix "watch now" stuff via your 360 when the fall update comes.
  22. While in college I wanted to get better headphones for my PC.
  23. Sounds right, bad memory is one of the more common causes of crashes. Most memory comes with a lifetime warranty these days so you should try to RMA it with the manufacturer.
  24. Craig needs to make a 'stat amp.
