I guess he gave up the ghost when he heard Dr. Demento announce his retirement and the end of his show.

"He remained active and engaged even later in his life. Rapper Tauheed K. Epps, who records as "2 Chainz", sampled Lehrer's song The Old Dope Peddler [PDF] for his track Dope Peddler, asking permission to use a snippet. Lehrer wrote back:

As sole copyright owner of 'The Old Dope Peddler', I grant you motherfuckers permission to do this. Please give my regards to Mr. Chainz, or may I call him 2?

Well, they certainly ran with it.

One of the greatest clothing designers ever, Giorgio Armani, has died at the age of 91:

I am sure he came into my orbit in 1980 as the person who created Richard Gere's iconic looks in the movie "American Gigolo":

RIP to a legend in the industry.

I think a lot of the iconic clothes of Miami Vice were from Armani, too.

Truly a giant in his field and a style icon.

That sucks, but I do love the quote in that article that he died "a after a long struggle with life." My friends' band that I managed for a time used to play Sex Bomb as an encore, especially at parties.

RIP Mr Loose

This one hits. Saw them only once, when running spotlight at a show. I regained most of my hearing about a week later.

Mark Volman of The Turtles, Zappa's Mothers, Flo & Eddie and much more, passed away last week.

Charlie Kirk officially dead.  Dude was an inauthentic, dark money backed grifter.  For years we made jokes about an entire generation being unsure of the exact size of his face.  There's even a web widget based around it.  He certainly did not deserve to be shot and killed.  As for the rest of us, this bodes poorly for the future of our political landscape.
