August 21, 20178 yr I think Brent was joking with Shabba (not 100% sure) but I've been listening to ISSA almost every day for the past few weeks, it's pretty legit Here's some comedy gold tho:
August 21, 20178 yr It's funny with Tidal, they always recommend JayZ... for some reason... I thought the whole reason to pay for this shit was not to get ads for things one could not care less about?

A$AP Rocky is also the face of Dior Homme. That does not speak to his music, obviously, but the guy is a force. Edited August 21, 20178 yr by Sherwood
August 31, 20178 yr So I've been noticing recently that Tidal has been adding a lot more MQA/Masters albums. Do they sound better than regular lossess? Got me. They do, however, tend to have pretty decent mastering. It is worth scrolling through their landing page for the masters if you haven't in a while. Also cool: if they have one album from an artist in master odds are they will have the rest of their catalog in master either already up or on its way.

September 24, 20178 yr This just about puts the nail in the coffin of MQA as something worth paying attention to far as I am concerned. http://archimago.blogspot.com/2017/09/mqa-core-vs-hi-res-blind-test-part-ii.html
November 16, 20178 yr Can now control a Sonos system directly from within the TIDAL app/player. The is actually pretty great as Sonos's own front end is ... clunky.

December 13, 20178 yr I made an honest attempt to read this article, but couldn’t get past the author’s snooty preachiness. Is it just the old streaming-pays-artists-nothing argument salted with the-ignorant-masses-don’t-appreciate-real-music? (And never mind that in the good old days, nearly all musicians also weren’t well paid because labels pocketed all money and no one bought self-published CDs, and as for musical tastes — I’m sure there’s material for at least a dozen PhD theses buried in the subject.)

March 4, 20215 yr I hope they don't increase pricing.....wouldn't be surprised if they do, though. Will keep an eye on that and Qobuz pricing, and hope that Roon will integrate with Amazon's higher quality service, and maybe Spotify's when it comes out.
March 5, 20215 yr "Artist owned", makes you feel good, but a buyer with lots of money showed up, so... Gotta go.
March 5, 20215 yr Doesn’t really matter as we’ll all be back on turntable.fm soon, right? Right? https://entertainment.slashdot.org/story/21/03/04/2226217/turntablefm-is-back-from-the-dead

Quote All of the artists named as shareholders in Tidal during the streaming service’s all-star launch ceremony in 2015 will remain shareholders under Square’s majority ownership. So...maybe? It certainly isn't a minority owned business any more. On 3/4/2021 at 3:33 PM, skullguise said: I hope they don't increase pricing..... I doubt it, they have to remain competitive to keep the business they are in all likelihood losing to Spotify Hi-Fi.
May 17, 20215 yr Didn't want to create a new thread, but... lossless coming to Apple Music. Quote Apple Music’s Lossless tier starts at CD quality, which is 16 bit at 44.1 kHz (kilohertz), and goes up to 24 bit at 48 kHz and is playable natively on Apple devices. For the true audiophile, Apple Music also offers Hi-Resolution Lossless all the way up to 24 bit at 192 kHz. https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2021/05/apple-music-announces-spatial-audio-and-lossless-audio/
May 22, 20215 yr The recent outcry over the MQA scam, and Tidal’s complicity in it, probably should be mentioned on this thread. This video started it a couple of weeks ago.
