September 25, 20178 yr So, Star Trek Discovery. I went in with very low expectations. I think the first episode was a waste of a primetime slot, and certainly was nothing more than a cash grab for CBS All Access, given the way it... ended? Did the episode end? My takeaway from the "transition" is that maybe those NCIS guys would deal with the Klingons. Episode two was pretty good. It certainly makes some decisions that I wouldn’t have made, and it sure would be nice if someday, somewhere, somebody making Star Trek figures out how shields are supposed to work, but it’s pretty good. It’s definitely a Bryan Fuller show, and it will be interesting to see if that continues, given that he jumped ship (no pun intended) pretty early on. Anyway, I'm cautiously optimistic. I did rather enjoy that there was a nice little homage to Kirk talking computers to death, in the second episode (not much of a spoiler, that).
October 29, 20178 yr Yeah, me too. I need an animated gif of the girl with her mouth open at 32:24 of the first episode (of the second season) -- I must've rewound that scene about 5 times until I could stop laughing enough to continue.
November 27, 20178 yr Godless, on Netflix. It's pretty good, and has a good cast, but it truly feels a bit like a mid-90s show. It's a combination of the pacing and the musical stingers that coincide with plot and character beats. A weird choice.

Once I finish the last season of Longmire (you might dig this series Tice) I'll be searching for the next thang. I've been a fan of Longmire since it started on cable tv. I know it's not exactly the best of anything, but the main characters are just likeable I guess.
December 8, 20178 yr Craig Ferguson, Tickle Fight — hilarious I especially appreciated the bit about not being able to grow a beard, since I have made that exact same joke, although without the miming.
December 11, 20178 yr Just finished binging the German Netflix series "The DarK". It is fantastic. The filming is just awesome. Now that I'm done with the first season, I want to watch it again just to check out some of the scenes. The soundtrack from Ben Frost is pretty good although it's a little bit Johann Johannsson sound-a-like. One of the best Netflix sci fi.
December 15, 20178 yr Orphan Black. Watching the first season on Amazon. Great start, and I heard it just gets better.
December 23, 20178 yr Yup, looking forward to the antics of those kooky Peaky Blinders! Love everything about that show. Watched Godless on Rek's mention above. I thought it was excellent. Jeff Daniels is one of those actors that just seems to get better and better(er?). This is an excellent role for him. Thanks Jacob!
December 23, 20178 yr If you haven't watched a tour of the International Space Station, this one is pretty entertaining.
December 25, 20178 yr The KTVU Yule Loghttp://blog.sfgate.com/parenting/2010/12/15/a-tribute-to-the-television-yule-log/
December 28, 20178 yr Sadly, I've already finished Peaky Fucking Blinders. 2019 is a long fucking time to wait for more...
December 28, 20178 yr Just finished "Godless". Thanks for the recommendation Jacob and Steve. Good stuff.
December 31, 20178 yr First episode of the current season of Black Mirror, "USS Callister". Feels kind of weird watching The Orville, now.
