Just realized you shot that with 35/2.  You're a brave man - I'd have opted for a longer lens just to be away bit more from water.

My daughter (almost 12) is on the yearbook staff at her magnet school. Her grade went on a field trip to the Atlanta Aquarium, and she was one of four people allowed to take a camera. I set her up wit

I've hardly taken photos in the last however many years, but what I have been doing since I got this shiny M1 Macbook Pro is blowing the dust off my editing skills. July 1, 2006, the first

2009 was one of the craziest years of my life, paralleling 1996.  I should do a photo essay on it.  That'd take more time than I have, so here's a Cliff's Notes version. The year started fairly i

To those of you who take amazing photos and post them in the internets, this could be of interest.

That pisses me off, especially since it slipped in under the radar like this.  It doesn't affect me much, but I stand up for the rights of content creators to not have their works exploited and robbed.

Great pics everyone!

catscratch - those EdMika adapters look great & well-made, But it is my understanding that there are issues with focusing to infinity (and mirror contact) with some lens + full-frame camera body combinations. Just FYI.

A few others from a couple of nights ago.

Looks like the Bat Signal.

When did all Nikon battery grips become so that you have to remove it to change battery, except, of course, the one in the grip itself?

Hmm I didn't know that either.  It's actually pretty nice now because you can use your original camera battery along with the batteries in the grip.  Previously, the grip actually went in the battery slot.  But then again, maybe that was a battery itself so now Nikon's shortchanging us a battery.

The MB-D10 for the D300/D700 was the first I think.

Its nice because if you shoot with and without the grip the new grips take up less room in your camera bag and are less likely to get broken.

You can set the camera to use the battery in the vertical grip first so you don't have to take it off to get at the battery in the body so often.

My D200 never used the batteries simultaneously - it would drain the left one and then start on the right one.

Ah, that's a good point, never thought of it that way.

Decided to take a walk to the Zoo during lunch today.  Was only able to spend a few minutes so didn't make it down to the big cats.

Something of a work in progress:

Is american pride the theme or similarly lit scenes? The bright spot by the bottom right corner of the flag seems to stand out awkwardly. But very nice image otherwise Ari.

I agree entirely. Taking a photograph of a girl doesn't mean I am looking for someone else to go out with though.

Not that it matters, but she is a student of mine. I was holding a review prior to the final exam at Whole Foods. Above picture was the only one that wasn't ruined by harsh shadows from midday sun. Also it was the only one where I used the flash and the clouds somewhat covered the sun.

It took a lot of will power to talk myself out of buying a 105 DC earlier this week.

You're not helping.

Are you using a dx or full frame body?

Ari ... nice mood shot ... where was that scene?

cj ... 105 dc is on my radar ... how much (if any) dc on that shot?

Haj ... agree on Adobe's cloud initiative ... wtf?  Seems they are in love with the subscription model with monthly revenues.
