My daughter (almost 12) is on the yearbook staff at her magnet school. Her grade went on a field trip to the Atlanta Aquarium, and she was one of four people allowed to take a camera. I set her up wit

I've hardly taken photos in the last however many years, but what I have been doing since I got this shiny M1 Macbook Pro is blowing the dust off my editing skills. July 1, 2006, the first

2009 was one of the craziest years of my life, paralleling 1996.  I should do a photo essay on it.  That'd take more time than I have, so here's a Cliff's Notes version. The year started fairly i

Lusting after the new Lytro Illum. I am really tempted to join the pre-order.

Having their first camera I'd strongly suggest waiting for reviews.

I was thinking the same thing Ric but I see that there is going to be a 60 day warranty that seems like would address my concerns.

Probably still waiting until it's in production but $100 is a significant discount.

Also note that you would get a 20% discount as a previous owner

Peter ... beautiful light in that image.  The blossoms just pop, but without being blown out.  Just beautiful.

Wow!  Aluminyzed version of that would look awesome!

Never mind, he has that option on his website now.

Peter, your nature photos make me so jealous.  The lighting on that Yosemite shot is so perfect, it's not even funny.

I took on test photo with the Nikon D3200, a shot of the cat from 6 feet away. The flash popped up and did a good job a filling in the shadows in a poorly lit kitchen at night. It's possible to zoom into the cat's face pretty deeply, thanks to the 24mp.

[edit - didn't realize how much the forum reduces the pixel count as an attachment]

What were you using before, Dinny?  From my experience, I liked the AF on D700 better, though I suspect some of it may be D600's much higher pixel count exposing my mistakes.

I'm not loving the D600 and it's not the oil stuff.  I'm not loving my photography skillz either, but there's something about the focus system that's bringing me down.

Sounds a lot like what Jacob was telling me about it this week. Jacob who is now after a D800 ;)

Very talented people here.
