June 5, 201214 yr comment_518893 ...my next book (Mira Grant's Blackout, the final book from the Newsflesh Trilogy, which showed up randomly as I had forgotten about the pre-order)...Thanks for the inadvertant heads-up, I, apparently, did not preorder, so will have to find a way to track that down. Report
June 5, 201214 yr comment_518928 I figured you already know... Otherwise it would've been an intentional heads up! Got a few chapters in last night... So far, so good. Report
June 12, 201214 yr comment_519925 Thanks to the local library. What a fun read, thanks for the recommendation. Would it be a bit of a giveaway to say I was far too familiar with far too many of the references? It looks like Ernie is on (book) tour. I may even be able to catch him. Now, can I win that DeLorean? Report
June 12, 201214 yr comment_519995 Thanks for the link, I just might go see him in Beaverton next Tuesday. Report
June 13, 201214 yr comment_520156 It looks like Ernie is on (book) tour. I may even be able to catch him. Now, can I win that DeLorean? Well I've found the first gate. I just have to play stacks now Report
June 20, 201214 yr comment_521408 ...Mira Grant's Blackout, the final book from the Newsflesh Trilogy...Foxy might be my favorite character in a book that I want need to see in a movie, evar. I misplaced my copy of Redemption Ark. Argh! Report
June 20, 201214 yr comment_521424 Foxy might be my favorite character in a book that I want need to see in a movie, evar. Yeah, in a series full of amazing characters, she manages to stand out, which is saying something. Kind of bitter sweet... I had a lot of trouble deciding how I wanted to finish the book, knowing it was the end of a trilogy. I wanted to plow through, so I could find out how things shook out. But I didn't want it to end too soon, either. I just plowed through, anyway. I <3 reading! Report
June 21, 201214 yr comment_521588 How often is it that the 3rd is the best instalment in a trilogy? Report
June 21, 201214 yr comment_521622 It really didn't disappoint. The first book is incredible, but it spends a lot of time creating the world in which it takes place. I was worried with the 2nd book, because it seemed to lose its way a little. For me, anyway. But it certainly set up the third book incredibly well. I love good follow-up books because you already know the characters and can spend more time on the plot, action and sublties... Report
June 22, 201214 yr comment_521736 Fifty Shades Of Grey On audiobook at work. It's entertaining to consume the same book the two most attractive young ladies in my department are also reading. Book club? A young female reader reads this one, and it's humorous to hear her George Takei-esque "oh my!" throughout. I'm debating the second book (lots of credits I need to use), and I have a very boring job. We shall see. **BRENT** Report
June 22, 201214 yr comment_521737 ^All the hot stay at home moms are reading it. So I'm gonna read it, too. Report
June 22, 201214 yr comment_521742 I had it going at work on the iPad. I started it, but didn't realize the headphones weren't plugged in. I don't think I've hit "Pause" so fast in my life. **BRENT** Report
June 22, 201214 yr comment_521791 I heard it's awful, about an awful subject, and awfully written, I will not be reading it. It was enjoyable to read Dr. Drew trashing it, though. Report
June 22, 201214 yr comment_521839 I heard it's awful, about an awful subject, and awfully written, I will not be reading it. It was enjoyable to read Dr. Drew trashing it, though. That's too bad as Dr. Drew has strived for such healthy life choices and relationships on Celebrity Rehab, etc. Report
June 23, 201214 yr comment_521862 The Doctor needs to get paid. Like any other sellout I'll look the other way and respect the opinions he gives for free. Report
June 23, 201214 yr comment_521875 That's too bad as Dr. Drew has strived for such healthy life choices and relationships on Celebrity Rehab, etc.I'm not sure I understand this sentence. That's exactly why he hates it -- because it is a story about a non healthy relationship. I'm just saying, I respect his opinion, and it's largely why I won't be reading it. Report
June 23, 201214 yr comment_521926 Yea, we disagree there. I know little about the book (though did like Gilbert Godfrey's abbreviated reading), but wouldn't look to Drew for useful 'healthy' commentary. Edited June 23, 201214 yr by blessingx Report
June 24, 201214 yr comment_522081 Finished Michael crichtons last posthumously released novel - micro. Richard Preston took over the unfinished manuscript and turned what started off as a great book almost as good as prey or timeline or state of fear and turned it into a steaming pile of shit about halfway through. I can almost pinpoint the very chapter where I couldnt feel crichtons voice reading the book to me anymore. Bought the game of thrones. Hopefully it is not as arduous as the Iliad or the lord of the rings books. Starting game of thrones on iPad now. Edited June 24, 201214 yr by crappyjones123 Report
June 24, 201214 yr Author comment_522083 I have found game of thrones way harder to get into than lord of the rings, even tho I love the tv version. Report
June 24, 201214 yr comment_522084 Quite uncharacteristically, I plowed through all five GoT books, although the first three are the ones I liked much more than the last two. Report
June 24, 201214 yr Author comment_522086 I should give GoT another chance, and just start it when I'm not quite so tired. I find it a lot harder to get started in a book these days because I only read when I'm exhausted. Report
June 24, 201214 yr comment_522157 I go through spurts where I read but mostly I just don't have the time or strength and I don't like reading when I am exhausted. It just puts me to sleep. I did the GoT marathon in between my last trial and the Samsung Saga. It takes away from the show somewhat because you know what's coming, or supposed to be coming, and there were so many changes this season that it was kind of annoying and disappointing. Report
