June 10, 201016 yr What great pics, and what a great party I missed. Are those B&W shots actual film, or a digital effect? They're really excellent.
June 10, 201016 yr I love those pics. I love love LOVE the raffle pics. Everyone looks great in them, and they just capture the joy of the whole event. Very well done.
June 10, 201016 yr I just realized that I nowadays I find myself more interested in seeing pics of all gatherings and people whose names I see on here than those of the gear. Someday I'd love to make it to one of these bigger meets to meet some of you in person but after seeing pics and reading the stories I don't think I'd ever be able to keep up. The best part of the entire weekend was meeting and hanging with all of these wonderful people. I listened to some gear but mostly the time was spent chatting with all of the people whose names I knew from Head-Case but had not met. Everyone I met was gracious and friendly, despite their reputations here. So I would definitely suggest you go to a major gathering as these folks truly are the best. Except Reks. He's an (Just kidding Jacob. You know I love you. But not in an swt61 way...)
June 10, 201016 yr Its been said, but I love those pictures. It sums up the adventure very nicely, thank you!
June 10, 201016 yr Peter ... bravo on the pics! I know what it takes to capture, edit, and post with appropriate comments, and applaud your efforts. Superb people captures, and love the ultra high iso b&w.
June 10, 201016 yr Thanks for the pics, it's almost like I was there without all the obnoxious noise! You did link one duplicate though (search on "liver transplant", the ones immediately before and immediately after those words).
June 10, 201016 yr A few more random photos from the weekend that I found on my iPhone: The Three Floyds mens' room chalk board: Hot Doug's had some good signage and a humorous choice in clocks for a sausage joint: And artwork that LFF would have loved:

That is precisely why you need to get your butt to the next one pronto. You need to catch up. Come hell or high water, we're getting you on that plane to SF for Al's next meet. What great pics, and what a great party I missed. Are those B&W shots actual film, or a digital effect? They're really excellent. They are digital, same camera as all the rest, processed in PS CS5. I didn't use any snazzy plugins, just basic curves/levels/color mixer. Thanks for the pics, it's almost like I was there without all the obnoxious noise! You did link one duplicate though (search on "liver transplant", the ones immediately before and immediately after those words). That's what I get for staying up too late after a long day just trying to get these pictures done and posted. Here is the picture that should be there (and will on HF, once I get around to posting there, which is now a huge PITA, since you can't just copy/paste image links used here):
June 10, 201016 yr why can't I see the pics? little boxes with questions marks are what I have. I am not seeing Al's pics either.
June 10, 201016 yr Do-Over A few more random photos from the weekend that I found on my iPhone: The Three Floyds mens' room chalk board: Hot Doug's had some good signage and a humorous choice in clocks for a sausage joint: And artwork that LFF would have loved:
June 10, 201016 yr Much better this time, Al! I totally spaced on getting the pic for LFF, once the food came, my focus became singular.
June 10, 201016 yr Good news. It was hard to think about anything else but the glorious encased meats and duck fat fries, so nobody could blame you. After gorging, it was hard to do much more than just roll into the car.

This is what it is all about, the gear is secoundary, you would be suprised how well you could keep up when you are there. Great pics Peter.
June 10, 201016 yr 100% duck fat fries? i am at a loss on how crispy it would be and even more so on how it would taste...
June 10, 201016 yr I don't know the percentages of the fryer oil, but they were very tasty and a very good texture and consistency.
June 10, 201016 yr those duck oil fries certainly looked quite fantastic, delicious and crispy. mcdonald's use to put a percentage of beef oil/tallow (extract) in their french fry oil. it did give the fries a unique flavor and more saturated fat.
June 10, 201016 yr You guys are making me hungry. Want some duck fat fries so bad right now. And great pics all, thanks for posting them.
June 10, 201016 yr A little late, but great pics guys. What lens did you use to shoot the raffle series?
